Special thanks to our dedicated group of lake volunteers and Kieve Wavus Education, Inc. for helping us host another successful and enjoyable State of the Lake yesterday at the beautiful Jewell Lodge! Thank you for all you're doing to keep Damariscotta Lake a jewel of the midcoast!

This Week’s Results (the US EPA’s recommended freshwater Beach Action Value is 190 MPN/100mL for E. coli in Freshwater):
✅ Ice House Park (Damariscotta Mills): 19.5
✅ Bunker Hill Boat Launch: 7.1
✅ Davis Stream: 6.3
✅ Damariscotta Lake State Park: 23.1
✅ The Narrows: 4
✅ Vannah Road Boat Launch: 82.6
**Results represent conditions at a certain place and time and are subject to change, especially with rainfall.
**There are always inherent risks associated with open water swimming and we recommend following these best practices: avoid inadvertently swallowing lake water, avoid swimming after heavy rainfall, do not swim if you are ill, shower before and after swimming, wash hands after using the bathroom or changing diapers, and clean up pet waste within the shoreland area.
**Not all sites are public swimming areas, but we attempt to represent a large portion of Damariscotta lake.

If you love Damariscotta Lake and are looking for work this summer, we’re hiring a Courtesy Boast Inspector!

Midcoast Conservancy’s Courtesy Boat Inspector (CBI) staffs the Damariscotta Lake Boat Launch in Jefferson, Friday through Sunday, 9am - 4pm. The CBI works to ensure no invasive plants are transported from other lakes into Damariscotta Lake or from Damariscotta Lake into other water bodies. They offer boat (and other watercraft) inspections and spread the word about how small actions can make a big impact on the ecosystem health of Maine’s Lakes.

The position is for Friday, Saturday, and Sundays, from now through Labor Day, 9am - 4pm. The position pays $17 to $20 an hour depending on experience.

If you love the outdoors, connecting people to our lakes, and you’re looking for a rewarding summer job, reach out to Zoe Thomas ([email protected]) for more information and to apply.
