Our sense of whether or not we matter—to our loved ones, our communities, and the world at large—begins in the earliest days of infancy. While it’s never too late to build a sense of mattering, when we start early, we can have an outsized positive effect on children’s health and well-being across their lifespan.

Listen to our Chief Science Officer, Dr. Lindsey Burghardt, on the BDA Baby podcast, hosted by Katherine Schwarzenegger, to learn more about the importance of mattering in early childhood. Dr. Burghardt also shares everyday strategies for helping young children feel that they matter.

As we begin to wind down 2025, we want to pause and share our heartfelt gratitude with all of you. šŸ’™
Because of your trust and support, Maine Families Home Visiting had the honor of walking alongside families throughout Waldo County this year.

Like every year, 2025 brought its challenges—and just as surely, its many successes. Thank you for welcoming us into your homes and your lives, for allowing us to celebrate your milestones, and for trusting us to support you through the harder moments.

Beyond home visiting, this year was filled with meaningful connections and shared experiences. We helped facilitate two community baby showers, joined the YMCA Health and Safety Fair, refreshed and remodeled our playgroup space, and began co-facilitating a parent support group. We dug our hands into soil while learning to grow container gardens, painted pumpkins, and blew more bubbles than we could ever count. We distributed diapers and wipes, shared laughter, embraced messes, shed tears, and spent time worrying, wondering, and growing together.

Above all, we were part of a community that is strong, resilient, and full of hope—and one that will continue to thrive. Thank you for being such an important part of our year and our hearts.

Take a moment and share what is something that brought you joy in 2025. Look in the comments for the Maine Families joy. ā¤ļø
