We have taken down our previous post requesting support, as it was clear from the comments that there is still confusion around the situation. We are currently waiting on guidance from our attorney, who is addressing the matter with the school board. Once we receive confirmation on what can be shared, we will release a full statement to provide the clarity and transparency our community deserves.

For now, we want to end the night by thanking the families and staff who have continued to bring joy and steadiness to the school. They know—and we hope you’ll see—that the school was a safe, beautiful haven for many. For those families, this heartbreaking turn of events was not only avoidable, but a true tragedy.

Once the full picture is available, we hope those who resonate with our mission will feel empowered to support this difficult but important cause.
We remain hopeful this will be resolved with truth and dignity.

There is a group, here in Gainesville, of gentle fairies deeply dedicated to the study of the philosophy behind Waldorf education. And sometimes they craft puppet shows or little presents for the children in our care. This Easter, they gifted our first graders little chicks that fit cosily in little hands. Thank you to Ms Sylvia and the Sophia group! 🐥✨

Huge shout out to all the volunteers that enrich the school experience so much. Emiliano has been coaching the kids that stay on Wednesdays for the after school soccer program, and we couldn’t be more grateful! Thank you, coach Emiliano!

Walking into a classroom with a new blackboard art announcing to the children the new block they will be studying for the next couple weeks is always exciting. Here in fourth grade, Ms Jessica started the Man and Animal block. She decided to add a mini- unit on the rock cycle to introduce it. Students got to look at characteristics of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks & minerals and crystals. As an accompanying activity, the children got to make their own pendants with a diversity of rocks and crystals to choose from. 🪨

What an immense treat our 5th graders got this week for their pentathlon training! The surprise visit from Australian pro athletes Lenorë Lambert and Philippa Wight, currently participating in the World Masters Athletics Championship at the Alachua County’s brand new events and sports center.

They graciously accepted our invitation and Lenorë gave an inspiring class focusing on long jump, one of the five athletic skills our fifth graders are training for. To find out more about the yearly 5th grade pentathlon event and its place in the curriculum, please visit the link in our bio (or find the newsletter tab on our website.)

No words can express how grateful we are for Lenorë and a Philippa’s visit. The children were so inspired by it, really focused and gave their all. We are so proud of our young athletes!

🏆 The World Masters Athletics Championship is free to the public and happening now until this Sunday, March 30th in Celebration Pointe.

Spring Celebrarion Tree Planting
Thank you to all who brought about a wonderful collaboration to plant 14 native and fruit trees on our school campus and city grounds yesterday. A team of leaders, professionals, and community and parent volunteers donated their time, expertise, and materials to guide our students through the process of properly planting trees so they can thrive, producing food and habitat for, in some cases, hundreds of years to come. Each class planted, watered, and mulched trees and/or paint garden signs (shout out to Sky for carving the wooden ones! 🙌). It was a lovely way to welcome spring and start back school after the break. We are excited to see how these trees will transform the landscape of our campus in the years to come.

Thank you always to all the volunteers and local leaders and professionals that support these projects. We couldn’t do it without you!

Kim Worley, Waldo City Manager, County Arborist, Lacy Holtzworth, the Alachua County Tree Planting Program, UF Master Gardener Volunteers, Source One Landscaping, and our own garden committee leader Nicole Dodds for organizing and spearheading these fantastic experiences.

Dear families, we are getting ready to welcome you back this Monday! We are happy to gather on that first day after the break with our students to welcome the spring and celebrate new beginnings. We have different garden activities planned and 18 bushes and trees that will be planted. About half of these are fruit trees which will be planted in the Food Forest in the front lot that will eventually provide food for the school. The other half of the trees are native trees that will be part of the school’s Botany Garden that will provide habitat for wildlife. As we care for these trees, we honor the earth, the sun, the rain, and the wind, knowing they will nourish and support the life we are planting and supporting. Students will work together throughout the years with care, giving these trees the foundation they need to grow strong.

“The earth is warming, the sun shines bright,
Roots stretch deep, leaves reach for light.
Springtime calls, and here we stand,
Planting trees with loving hands.”

It is always a treat to walk into Ms Sherry’s beautiful handwork and music classroom and see what the children are working on.
5th grade has been working on knitting and sewing lovely pocket dolls - some of which were started in the aftermath of hurricane Helene last Fall, and will be sent to the Asheville Waldorf School as a little balm of support.
1st grade has been getting to know wool and the use of mix media by creating magical nature wands. ✨
