Operation Dalmatian

Operation Dalmatian In our local area we have hundreds of families that struggle during these tough economic times and are unable to afford gifts for their children for Christmas.

Helping local families since 1999 🎁 Supported through Walden Baptist Church and the Larkin Taskforce Fund at the Community Foundation of Orange & Sullivan — both 501(c)(3) organizations ensuring donations are tax-deductible. Operation Dalmatian is a nonprofit organization that has been a part of the Walden community since 1999 bringing together members of the community, local businesses, schools a

nd organizations. This is where our program steps in to help. Our program is designed to seek out families that are possibly too proud to ask or that don’t know help is available. Operation Dalmatian was formed by Rev. Jim Van Houten (Pastor of Walden Baptist Church Chaplain of Walden Fire Department) and James Griffin (Past Chief of Walden Fire Department). Jim and James knew of many families in their local community that were not going to be able to afford Christmas Gifts for their children and wanted to do something to help. They created a program that would help these families as well as bring
together the community. James Griffin passed away a few years ago but his memory lives on in Operation Dalmatian. Over the years the list of children and families has grown in leaps and bounds from the original 50 children to an average of 400 children annually. The voluntary members of the Operation Dalmatian Committee are proud to continue this program each year while being a part of the growth and support it provides our community.

🚨🚨 ATTENTION ALL APPLICANTS 🚨🚨
our program volunteers at the church pick up location are being inundated with phone calls. Please if you receive a call from a volunteer to set up your pick up time WRITE IT DOWN! If you can’t remember the address to the pick up location look back at your approval email as the name of the church and the address is on there.
Each call that they have to take that reiterates what is being shared with applicants in the emails or to re-share an assigned pick up time takes away from their ability to fill gifts for additional families who are also waiting for their call for pick up.
If you have not received a phone call yet your gifts are not ready. If you are worried, the wrong phone number is on your applicationRespond to the email so your phone number can be checked and updated if needed.
Our volunteers are doing their very, very best around full-time work schedules and full-time family schedules to make your Christmas better, due to such I am asking all exercise some patience and give them some grace.
If you have been approved, you will receive gifts for your family. Excessive phone calls and inquiries on the status of when your gifts will be ready does not speed up that process instead it slows it down.
