Chicago Northwestern Train ran through Wakefield from 1881 to 1977

The Chicago and NorthWestern Railway (C&NW) had a significant presence in Wakefield, Nebraska, with a depot that served as a vital hub for both passengers and freight. The depot, first built in 1881 and later expanded in 1925, played a central role in the town's development. It was eventually converted into a museum, which is open to the public on Saturdays during the summer and by appointment.
