Christ's Basket Ministries is 14 Years Old this month!!!
Christ's Basket Ministries started by our son David, as a feeding ministry, where we operated out of our 15 passenger van (man i miss that van!) providing food, hot meals, clothes, supplies, Bibles, and The love of Christ to the homeless and those struggling in poverty, first in Middlesex County and then, also, on the streets in Richmond and surrounding areas.
We'd ask God to show us who needed what He had provided and we'll pull up in strangers driveways and outside public places, and go to doors and into secret places to reach people in need. People said we were crazy (probably still do. Lol) but you cant be crazy in love with Jesus and not have courage) to go out on the streets of Richmond. We'd take food and tables and line sidewalks and alleyways with hot food and drinks and we'd serve as many as 300 people at a time, some living in shelters, projects, cars, dumpsters, alleys, store fronts, sidewalks, etc. If you ever expressed an interest or curiosity of what we were doing you could best believe you were going too, even Afraid of the unknown. Lol. Then you'd find yourself begging to go. True story! That's how God works. Every week..sometimes multiple times, we were out.
Over 10 years ago we asked God to show us what he wanted from us next. And He started sending people in our path that wanted to dig into God's word together. They wanted a safe place where they were wanted and accepted to feel free to express themselves and ask the hard questions. We would pursue God and His word together to learn his heart and the answers to Our questions, together, because we ALL have those hard questions "we dare not ask." We started having Bible Study in our home, around our dinner table, every Friday night at 7pm. We started with 3 of us and we've had over 20 people. We'd pull out as many table and chairs that we need. Sometimes we'd curl up together with Jesus in our pj's and blankets and pillows. Yep! Church is the people NOT the building, so just being in God's presence is what's important..not the clothes or place. God always provided the chairs, food and most importantly His spirit.
We asked Him once again, "what do you want from us next and He called us out of the streets of Richmond and had us concentrate on Middlesex and surrounding areas. So we said goodbye to our people in Richmond and obeyed. That was 5 years ago.
This past summer we asked God again, "what do you want?" And He said "Freedom Chasers Church".
We worship, pray and study God's word together every other Sunday here in our home as a church. After which, we fellowship around the table together, sharing a meal together that we all share in creating. ANY AND EVERYONE IS INVITED! PLEASE COME! we are a small group right now but God has His plans. Yesterday He sent 4 new people by surprise! We had a total of 10 people! Praise God!!!
Now we are waiting to see what God has In store next....
Some things that He's working on for Freedom Chasers Church and Christ's Basket Ministries is ministry for senior citizens, children ministry, back to the inner city streets, and having a place to house Christ's Basket and Freedom Chasers, and whatever else He wants, use us Lord. We don't know what each of those will look like yet...but rest assured you will know when we do.
Thank you to each of you who have supported, donated, prayed, loved and served with us all of these 14 PLUS crazy Years, and still are! You are Angels on earth! May God shower you with more blessings than you can contain!
