A Lotta Love Wake Forest was born in 2016 after we visited the HomeStart shelter in Chapel Hill, NC with A Lotta Love founder, Lotta.. This facility is run by the Inter-Faith Council and is the only women and children shelter in Orange County. We saw the fantastic changes achieved there with help from the community and companies of Chapel Hill. After our initial visit, we decided to spread the LOV
E to the Raleigh/Wake Forest area. We have connected with Interact in Downtown Raleigh; a private, non-profit, United Way agency that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault. InterAct also promotes violence-free relationships and communities through collaboration, public information, education, and advocacy. InterAct is the only confidential domestic violence prevention program serving Wake County's twelve municipalities. But while the necessities such as meals, health services and a place to live for a short period is met there is no budget for anything beyond the real basics.
οΏ½This is where A Lotta Love Wake Forest wants to make a difference. We want to help the victims and survivors reclaim their pride, while living in this temporary environment. With your help, we can breathe life into these sterile rooms and give them βa home away from homeβ. We hope this may, in some way, help the families transition and that fewer will return to these abusive relationships.
