❤️ WHY I AM PERSONALLY SUPPORTING THE DIVA DOC
Dr. Thelma Wright is my dear friend and fellow Wesley Girls High School alumna. She was two years ahead of me, in Block C, while I was in Block B.
After a brief period at the University of Ghana, Thelma migrated to the United States, attended Howard University, and became a physician specializing in anesthesiology and pain medicine.
Our relationship extends beyond our school days. In January 2023, when I was involved in education at the Ghana Physicians and Surgeons Foundation of North America, I moderated a webinar featuring Thelma as our speaker on Interventional Procedures for the Aging Population.
I remember calling her several times to arrange the interview. On the day of our programme, she was taking her two children to an activity, yet she graciously made time to share her knowledge with us. I have never forgotten that kindness.
And the support has gone both ways! ❤️
A few months ago, Thelma posted that she hoped to interview Afua Kyei, the Ghanaian-heritage financial leader at the Bank of England.
Knowing that Afua's father is the chief of my hometown, Essuowin, I immediately offered to help.
Within 24 hours, I had contacted several people to obtain his number. After a few unsuccessful attempts, I eventually connected with Nana Appiah Nuamah. He explained that a formal letter outlining the purpose of the interview was required. I contacted Thelma, the letter was prepared, and I helped get it to the chief so it could be forwarded to Afua.
Although Afua's busy schedule has meant that the interview has not yet happened, something wonderful came out of the effort.
In speaking with Nana Appiah Nuamah, I discovered that he had known my family for many years. He remembered my parents, knew my sisters in London, and had visited our home long before becoming chief!
I had met him previously, but I had not known the depth of our family connection. Today, we have developed a friendship, and he shares the history of Essuowin with me and offers guidance on various matters.
I set out to open a door for Thelma, and God opened another door for me! 🙏🏽❤️
That experience reminded me that when we genuinely help others, we never know what unexpected blessings may follow. I still hope Afua Kyei will join Thelma on her programme and perhaps even appear on my own platform one day!
🌟 NOW, LET'S HELP THE DIVA DOC SOAR!
On December 30, 2025, Thelma launched Diva Doc Let's Talk, a platform dedicated to celebrating women, sharing their stories, and highlighting their achievements and contributions.
In just nine months, she has reportedly built a community of 80,000 followers! What an incredible achievement!
Let's help her exceed her expectations. Imagine the possibilities if every one of those 80,000 followers introduced ten other people to her platform! Not everyone will subscribe, but every share creates another opportunity for someone new to discover her work.
LET'S STOP COMPETING AND START COLLABORATING!
There is room for all of us to shine. Another woman's success does not diminish yours. We do not need to be jealous of one another's progress. We can celebrate achievements, share opportunities, open doors, and help one another grow.
When I helped Thelma, I never imagined that I would reconnect so meaningfully with the chief of my hometown. That is the beauty of supporting one another: sometimes, the blessing comes back to us in ways we could never have anticipated.
Thelma, my dear friend, keep going! I celebrate your vision, your hard work, and the women whose lives you are touching. May God enlarge your platform and multiply your impact beyond your expectations.
