Back to school means new routines. Make them count. 🚲

Some of the best workouts don't look like workouts at all:

🚴 An evening bike ride with the kids
🏃 A Saturday morning family walk or run
🏊 One last lake swim while it’s still warm
🍂 A fall hike on the weekend

When you make movement part of your family's routine, it stops being something you have to do and starts being something you all look forward to.

What's your family's favorite way to stay active? 👇

Exercise isn't just about the finish line.
It's about how you feel on a Tuesday in October when work is stressful, the days are getting shorter, and your motivation is somewhere at the bottom of your coffee cup.

Moving your body, even for 20 minutes, changes that. It's not magic. It's just what consistent movement does for your mind.

As we head into fall, take care of your mental health the same way you take care of your training.

Show up even when you don't feel like it. Especially when you don't feel like it.
You've got this.

We're curious! How are you planning to stay active this fall?

Running? Biking? Hiking? Yoga? Chasing your kids around the backyard? Walking the dog before it gets dark at 6pm?
There's no wrong answer. Movement is movement.

Tell us what fall looks like for you this year. 👇 We love hearing how Central Minnesota stays active — and your answer might inspire someone else to get moving.

September is coming. And with it: back to school, packed schedules, earlier mornings, and the temptation to put your health on the back burner.

Here's how to protect your workouts in busy season:

⏰ Schedule it like a meeting. Put it on the calendar.

🌅 Go earlier than you think you need to. Avoid the post-work slump, and enjoy the sense of accomplishment you’ll get to start your day.

⚡ Shorten it, don't skip it. A 20-minute run will always beat zero minutes.

You worked too hard this summer to lose your momentum in September. 💪

What's your strategy for staying active when life gets busy? Share it below to encourage someone else who needs to hear it.

Race season is winding down. 🏃

Here's how to stay in shape when there's nothing on the calendar:

Embrace having less structure, and maintain healthy habits.

Switch it up and try something new or different, like yoga, kayaking or hiking!

Stay accountable with your community. Check out the opportunities on our website! activecentralmn.org/community

When you prioritize your health and show your kids how much fun it is to stay active, they’ll take on your mindset.

As we enter the 2026-27 school year, remember how important it is to encourage healthy habits and routines.

When you lace up your shoes on a tired Tuesday morning, they notice. When you choose the bike ride over the couch, they notice. When you cross a finish line, they notice.

Showing up for yourself = showing up for them. Keep moving, Central Minnesota.

August in Central Minnesota is genuinely beautiful. There's no better time to try something outside your usual routine.

What’s something you’ve always wanted to try, or have been thinking about lately? This is your sign to go for it.

When you discover exercise that is fun for you and feels good, you’ll be more likely to stay consistent with movement heading into the fall.

A few ideas:

🚵 Hit a local trail on your bike.
🏊 Swim at a lake just for fun! No clock, no distance goal.
🥾 Find a hiking trail you've never done.
🛶 Rent a kayak or paddleboard for an afternoon.

What a year:
Earth Day Run in St. Cloud in April.
Buffalo Graniteman in June.
Big Lake Graniteman in August.

Three races. Thousands of athletes. Countless early mornings, long training sessions, and finish line moments that reminded us why we do this.

To every athlete who toed the start line this year, thank you. To every volunteer who showed up before sunrise, thank you. To every sponsor, city partner, and community member who made these events possible, thank you.

Active Central MN exists because Central Minnesota shows up. ❤️
