At our final club meeting of the Rotary year 2025-2026: Unite For Good, we proudly recognized this year’s Rotary scholarship recipients from Hawaii Technology Academy and Waipahu High School. Representatives from both schools joined us in support of these outstanding students as they shared their dreams, goals, and the bright futures ahead of them. Their passion, leadership, and commitment to service remind us why investing in youth matters!

Our club also collectively donated foundation points to our Club President Delsie to award her first Paul Harris Fellow pin as a thanks helping to lead our club. Behind every pin, there is a story of service, appreciation, friendship and the powerful feeling of being truly seen by others!

Waipahu Read, Lead, Succeed Initiative 📚 PART 3: Waipahu Elementary School.

Our Rotarians lead “Read to Me” activities this month because literacy is one of Rotary’s core service priorities. By reading with children, we help build early reading skills, encourage a love of books, and support teachers in strengthening classroom literacy.

These activities also allow us to model volunteerism, build positive relationships with students, and contribute to the overall success of our local community 🧡

Congratulations to our 2025-2026 Club scholarship recipient: Chara Daily! 🎉

Chara is an exceptional student from Waipahu High School whose achievements, service and character strongly align with the values of our Club. She has demonstrated outstanding leadership by founding a student-led nonprofit, organizing the first Hawai’i Youth Climate Festival, and serving as a youth representative on the State Geothermal Working Group - roles that show initiative and commitment to community betterment.

We are honored to award her a $2000 scholarship to support her plans pursuing a college degree in geology and minor in civil engineering with long-term vision to safeguard Hawaii’s water and energy future.

Waipahu Read, Lead, Succeed Initiative 📚 PART 2: Waipahu Safe Haven.

We’re excited to share that we provided 15 Merriam-Webster’s Dictionaries of Basic English to the ESL students (up to 6th grade) at the Waipahu Safe Havens after school program 🧡

These students are already making an incredible effort by attending after-school programs to succeed, and we’re happy to support their hard work and dedication.

The dictionaries are helping them:
🌟 complete homework with more confidence
🌟 strengthen vocabulary and reading skills
🌟 improve communication in and out of the classroom

Waipahu Read, Lead, Succeed Initiative 📚 PART 1: Na Maka Kindergarten Prep School.

Today we delivered boxes of school supplies based on teachers wish list for their summer program starting first week of June - keeping students learning, inspired, and engaged!

The cost of school supplies has been on a constant rise and easing the burden of supply costs allows teachers to focus fully on creating those meaningful experiences!
When we support our teachers, we strengthen our entire community. Together we’re building brighter futures 🧡

Celebrating 55 years of Service Above Self! Chartered on May 7, 1971 from Rotary Club of Pearl Harbor by Charles Nishioka - an owner of Charley’s Car Care Center and Auto Parts in Waipahu and a strong supporter of Hawaii Plantation Village. The Rotary Club of West Pearl Harbor continues to thrive through generations of dedication. Charles legacy lives on through his son, Saxon Nishioka, who remains an active member today.

We want to also highlight and honor Thomas Gee, who began his Rotary journey more than 60 years ago in San Francisco and has since become a cherished member of our club here in Hawai’i.

Here’s to decades of community, connection, and service - and many more to come 🌺

✨ Please join us in giving a warm Rotary welcome to our newest member, Reliene Mikwa! He proudly serves in the US Army and learned from an early age the importance of responsibility, perseverance, and service to others. Currently residing in Waipahu, Reliene wants to learn more about the culture, values, and needs in his community.

We also had from Waipahu joining us as a guest speaker! She is a member with the Rotary club of Honolulu and a financial professional passionate about serving the next generation through education and community impact.

And a big MAHALO to Rotary Past District 5000 Governor, Nalani Flinn for joining and helping us welcome our new member to the club!
