This year’s Paddle for Life voyage wouldn’t have been possible without an incredible group of sponsors and community partners, and we want to take a moment to say mahalo.

Jayden Wilson was 4 years old when he was diagnosed with leukemia. He's now 15, and in remission.

His family has been by his side every step of the way, and this October, that same 'ohana took that love to the water for the 17th Annual Paddle for Life.

Team Jayden paddled the 'Au'au Channel, Maui to Lāna'i and back, and the paddling may be over, but their fundraising isn't. Donations to Paddle for Life are open through the end of the year, and every dollar helps fund no-cost support services for Maui County families facing cancer: patient navigation, transportation assistance, nutrition counseling, and financial support when it's needed most. That support stays right here, in this community.

You made the voyage.

36 miles across the 'Au'au Channel, Maui to Lāna'i and back, carried by every paddler, every team, every sponsor, and every person who fundraised, donated, or cheered from the shore.

To every paddler who crossed that channel this weekend, what you did was so much bigger than 36 miles. Some of you paddled for someone you love and lost. Some of you paddled for someone still fighting. Some of you paddled for yourself, as a survivor showing the next person it can be done. Whoever you carried with you, you carried them the whole way.

Kehau has been paddling with us for 10 years. Last year, that changed in a way she never expected, she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.

It hit her hard. But she had something to carry her through it, a strong 'ohana, and the support of Pacific Cancer Foundation along the way.

This year, Kehau is back on the water, and she has a mana'o she wants to share with you. In Hawaiian, mana'o carries more than "opinion," it's a thought held with real weight, something worth sharing and worth hearing. Hers is simple: you cannot put a dollar sign on life.

"We spend money on so many things we don't really need," she says. "But you can't put a dollar sign on helping save someone's life."

This October, Kehau is paddling the 17th Annual Paddle for Life, and she's asking you to be part of it. Whether you donate, create your own team, or simply send your support, every bit means the world to her and to every family this voyage carries.

So much attention goes to treatment. Then treatment ends, and you're left figuring out the everyday things on your own. This is one of those things, and you don't have to sort it out by yourself.

Finding a bra or breast prosthesis that feels right can take time.

On Monday, October 12, we're partnering with Nordstrom's certified Prosthesis Team to offer private, one-on-one fittings at Kaiser Permanente Maui. Fittings are by appointment and typically covered by insurance with a provider referral.

How to get started:

Ask your oncologist, surgeon, or medical provider for a referral. If you'd like help with this, our Navigation Team can assist.

Once your referral is in, our navigators will confirm it, review your insurance coverage with you, go over any financial assistance resources that may be available, and securely share your information with Nordstrom.

A Nordstrom representative will reach out to schedule your fitting and walk you through what to expect.

Your fitting includes a private consultation, a look at prosthesis options and bra styles, tips on care and cleaning, and support finding a fit that feels comfortable.

Uncle Kimokeo is introducing some important faces behind Team Nalu's Cliffy this year, we love you, Sue!

Scott Haley is serving as es**rt for the team, helping guide them through the 17th Annual Paddle for Life voyage.

Ezra and his dad Phillip are paddling in support of Team Schell Wa'a, bringing their own 'ohana into this year's crossing.

Every team paddling this October is helping raise support for Maui County families facing cancer, and every dollar raised stays right here, funding "no-cost" patient navigation, transportation, nutrition counseling, and financial assistance for the people who need it most.
