For Pacific Cancer Foundation, partnerships like this are about more than sponsorship. They reflect a shared commitment to community, where local businesses and nonprofits work together to support the health and well-being of our islands.

This Skin Cancer Awareness Month, we’re grateful to highlight David McCord and Maui Vera for their support of Paddle for Life and Pacific Cancer Foundation.

Last year, Maui Vera provided sunscreen and after-sun care for every Paddle for Life participant, helping paddlers stay protected during their time on the water.

Visit The Kukui Journal at the link in our bio to read more about David’s story, Maui Vera’s thoughtful approach to sun care, and their growing partnership with PCF.

Last week, we met with the University of Hawaiʻi Rural Health Research and Policy Center to share insights on the realities of cancer care across Maui County. Together, we spoke about the challenges many of our clients face in accessing treatment, transportation, support services, clinical trials, and consistent care in rural and neighbor island communities.

We also shared where additional resources, collaboration, and funding are needed to help us continue growing meaningful support systems, expand access to care, and create more innovative solutions for local families facing cancer.

Mahalo to Faizah Shyanguya and John Desfor from the University of Hawaiʻi for creating space for these important conversations and for their commitment to improving rural health across Hawaiʻi. We are grateful to contribute the voices and experiences of the communities we serve every day💛

It’s here! Rooted in Care: A Year of Community Support, Pacific Cancer Foundation’s 2025 Giving Report, is now available online.

Inside is the story of a community that came together in 2025 to care for local families facing cancer. From Paddle for Life and the Aloha Kalikimaka Gala to the everyday acts of generosity that made navigation, transportation, nutrition, wellness, and support possible, this report reflects what we can accomplish when we show up for one another.

Because of your support, individuals and families across Maui County received care, connection, and hope this year.

We invite you to explore the stories, partnerships, and impact you helped make possible.

“Each cancer diagnosis and journey is different for everybody.”

Andrea and Tori understand this deeply, both as family members and as navigators. Their work is rooted in meeting people where they are, with compassion, empathy, and no judgment.

Patient navigation is not one-size-fits-all. It is personal, responsive, and grounded in listening.

This is the heart of Pacific Cancer Foundation’s work across Maui County.
