Watching what is happening to flooded states in US is awful. I feel Horribly for everyone involved. Beyond that feeling is the awareness of Maui’s trauma from the fires- and how hearing all this is likely impacting them.

You might think these recent survivors would shy away from any awareness of other destruction- obviously all the news must be triggering.

But No. Not Maui.

For example- I am watching a group of local Maui people who helped with missing person cases resulting from the fires do the same for families of those now lost in the floods.

I’m observing all these amazing people band together to help others thousands of miles away. Maui has not even healed from its own injuries and it is reaching out to save others.

THIS SPIRIT of giving and concern for others makes me so proud of this community. It is also reassuring that in spite of all the negative events both surrounding and within our borders, I am witnessing Humanity at its greatest. Its kindest.

Its Best.

As long as the humanity in us continues we are not diminished as humans.

I love you Maui community.

You are the living breathing soul that is Hawaii. You are just as much an element of the tremendous beauty of Hawaii as the ocean, mountains, plants….

You are Hawaii.

Stay Strong.
