Player Spotlight: Ryder Epson — Grass League Standout & Rising Competitive Talent
The Maui Open Golf Championship is proud to welcome one of the most exciting young competitors in modern golf — Ryder Epson, accomplished player, content driven athlete, and a key member of the Grass League’s Dallas Horsemen.
Ryder represents the sport’s new generation: athletic, creative, and unafraid to bring personality and competitive fire to every round. His presence in the Grass League — one of golf’s fastest growing entertainment competition hybrids — has helped introduce the game to a broader, younger audience while showcasing his ability to perform under pressure and under the lights.
Before emerging on the national stage, Ryder sharpened his game at Long Beach State, where he developed the ball striking precision, competitive instincts, and calm under fire demeanor that now define his style. His transition from NCAA golf to the high energy, media driven Grass League has made him a standout figure in the sport’s evolving landscape.
Ryder’s competitive résumé continues to grow. He has:
• Competed in two USGA Four Ball Championships alongside his younger brother, Hunter Epson.
• Been nominated for the 2025 Grass League Player of the Year.
• Finished T2 at the Summer Grind with Hunter, highlighted by a final round 12, which at the time set a new Grass League scoring record.
• Delivered another strong showing with a T5 finish at the GL Championship, where the Epson brothers were a bright spot for the Dallas Horsemen.
Bringing Ryder to the Maui Open adds a dynamic new dimension to this year’s championship. His blend of competitive pedigree, modern golf influence, and proven performance in high energy formats makes him a perfect fit for an event honoring tradition while embracing the sport’s future.
Whether he’s shaping shots into the island winds or connecting with fans throughout tournament week, Ryder Epson arrives as both a competitor and an ambassador for the next generation of the game.
