Yesterday we had the honor of receiving an award from recognizing our work in serving the West Oʻahu community.
What started as a response to food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic has grown into a community-led effort to serve the Waiʻanae Coast.
Since 2021, we’ve distributed more than 13 million pounds of food through our food pantries and
emergency distributions. Through , we’ve expanded access to fresh, locally grown food while bringing more than $3 million back into the Waiʻanae economy. And the work doesn’t stop there.
We’ve advancing food sovereignty by helping families plant crops and Native Hawaiian plants at home. We’re connecting food and healthcare through produce and food subscriptions. We’re creating opportunities for people to learn about the ʻāina and culture-based foods through wellness workshops.
In partnership with , we’re also building a community resilience hub that will include a 10,500-square-foot food warehouse, certified classroom, incubator kitchen, emergency shelter, and multi-use community center.
Mahalo and for your support and belief in this vision. So much has happened in the past five years, and there’s still so much more to come. 💚
