WELCOME TO THE HAWAII SPCA OF MA`ILI
The Hawaii SPCA was born out of our compassion for animals in need on Oahu. We are a legitimate 501c3 nonprofit animal charity in good standing. Our charity status was granted to us in 2014 but it was always a sideline type of thing, something to tend to after working our 60 + hours a week job(s). The pandemic changed that for us, as it
did for so many others. The Ma`ili Free Food Pantry was founded in November of 2022 as a direct result of receiving donated food to feed the animals of the Hawaii SPCA. I have always rescued animals. From the time I was a young girl, birds, cats, dogs - you name it. Since we’ve been in Hawaii Pat has been right here with me to rescue animals through the years, and he has the same passion for it as I do. When he retired from Management and nightclub DJing in 2016 he ran the sanctuary full time while I worked. Not easy to do. When I was laid off from my corporate management job in 2020, I dove in alongside Pat, both of us running our shelter & sanctuary, the Hawaii SPCA. We work as a team to take care of everything here daily, and now that we are in it 24/7 together, we have no doubt this is where we are meant to be. In the past the Hawaii SPCA Sanctuary was funded mainly by mine & Pat’s salaries. When I was laid off, I worked hard to take this sanctuary to self-sufficiency through financial supporters, small grants and donors of goods and time. We have come quite a way from where we were in 2020 but have not yet consistently reached our monthly budgetary needs. Pat still works as a DJ, but he does weddings exclusively now. We offer DJ, Emcee and Photo Booth services. We take no salaries and all fees from the Miller DJ Hawaii company are donated directly to the Hawaii SPCA. We see many hard cases here, mange, abuse, abandonment, and animals so sick & so starving they are down to just skin & bones. We do our best for all of them. Pigs, Chickens, Dogs, Cats, Guinea Pigs, Rabbits…. They all have a place here until a forever family is found for them. We take them in and get them vetted & fixed, socialized and loved and then we best match them with their new forever families. Some go on to live their best lives, others remain here with us permanently or indefinitely. We have had our fair share of hospice cases as well. We make sure they never pass alone, whether it’s naturally or with help from our veterinarians, between Pat & I, one of us is always here. They all know love. They know safe space here. The next step, our dream, our vision, of the Hawaii SPCA is to create a thriving, community based for-profit business that will not only support and perpetuate the nonprofit animal sanctuary but will also serve the needs of the people of our communities. On these 3 little acres we see so much potential! A chance for the people & pets of our community to know safe space. Please join us in creating that space. Any donation of time as a volunteer and any financial support as a sponsor will help to ensure the lifesaving work we are doing will continue. Thank you for the opportunity to share!

Shelter...For Animals In Need
"THIS IS WHAT YOU SHALL DO ...
..Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body.”
~ Walt Whitman
