With harvest season underway, local partners came together to support agricultural producers. The message: While harvest season can be a rewarding time, it can also bring added pressure and demands. We want to remind agricultural producers and their families that taking care of mental health is just as important as taking care of their farm and equipment. Practicing self-care, taking time to recharge, connecting with others, and reaching out for support when needed can help individuals navigate stressful times. The bag had a snack, tips for maintaining good mental health and a great list of resources if needed. Our youth had the privilege to assist!
The farmer support effort was sponsored by Wagner Community Memorial Hospital-Avera, Commercial State Bank, First Dakota and Fort Randall Credit Union. Collaborating partners included Wagner Communities That Care and three local youth groups SPARK (Supporting Prevention Awareness Reaching Kids), Hope Squad and FFA. The youth groups packed the bags and distributed bags to businesses in Wagner. The youth assisted in packing approximately 460 bags. Approximately 320 bags were delivered to the fields and farms by the sponsors to the eleven townships surrounding Wagner, SD. The youth groups got to deliver over 100 bags to seven Wagner agricultural businesses for further distribution.
This effort reflects the commitment of local prevention and youth organizations to strengthening the Wagner community and promoting mental health awareness. We would like to thank the sponsors for allowing us to assist in this event.
