Policy Update for the 2025–26 School Year

Beginning in the 2025–26 school year, updates to the student bag and uniform policies will take effect. These changes were made in consultation with students, families, school administrators, and other key stakeholders to support a safe, consistent, and distraction-free learning environment.

Bag Policy (Grades 4–12):

To support enhanced security and consistent expectations across all secondary campuses:

✅ Only clear, see-through tote bags, backpacks, or similar items will be permitted. Mesh bags will no longer be allowed.
✅ Small, non-clear cosmetic bags for hygiene items may be carried inside clear bags.
✅ Athletic and equipment bags must be checked in with a coach or sponsor upon arrival.

Families are encouraged to review these changes before the start of the school year. Additional information on uniform updates will be shared separately.

🎨 Exciting Update on Senator Miller’s Donation to Thomas Jefferson Park! 🌳

This morning, several of our dedicated Waggaman Community Foundation board members rolled up their sleeves and got to work at Thomas Jefferson Park! 💪 They installed a large, heavy sheet of aluminum—soon to become the canvas for a vibrant community art project, made possible through a generous grant from Senator Greg Miller. 🖌️✨

And here's a little teaser… the artwork will be an interactive mural and will bring color, fun, and a perfect photo-op to the park. 📸💙

Instead of hiring a contractor, board members Sam Sparacio, Ray Milligan, Brian Porta, and Bernard Menge volunteered their time and muscle to tackle this phase themselves—saving money so even more improvements can be made around the park. That’s real community spirit in action! 🙌

The art installation is expected to be completed in just 2–3 weeks, so keep your eyes on the park.🕊️💫

Notice any street lights that are out near your home? Make sure to report them using the Entergy App! Just download the app and click on 'report street light out' to help brighten our community at night.

To help further identify street lights that are out, wrap the pole with orange/red flag tape or duct tape and note the date as pictured below. This helps the Entergy team locate the exact light that needs fixing, as the app only provides coordinates. Your help makes a difference!

Shoutout to Brian Porta with the Waggaman Community Foundation, who has been working tirelessly to tackle streetlight issues along River Road. Thanks to his efforts, including reporting through the app and making calls to Entergy, we’ve seen progress in getting those lights fixed.
