The new Illinois Police K9 Memorial License Plate will fund a program to help cover veterinary expenses for retired police dogs across the state.

The Care for Retired Police Dogs Grant Program will provide up to $1,500 per year to reimburse handlers or adoptive families for eligible veterinary costs. The program will be supported entirely through license plate sales, at no cost to taxpayers. There is a $25 fee to be placed into the fund.

K9 Yadi served in the ISP from 2013-2020, retired in February 2020, just celebrated his golden 14th birthday on 1-14-26, and passed away today in the arms of his handler.

Thank you for your service Yadi and for being part of our family for 13 years. You lived a wonderful life We love you and miss you already. 🇺🇸

Thank you to everyone who had a hand in helping the annual ceremony be a success again. We had beautiful weather and a perfect ceremony honoring and memoralizing the police K-9’s. We couldn’t do it without each and every one of you.

Lazy dog has a beautiful patio to enjoy with your meal and your K9 while supporting the Memorial. The fundraiser will continue Tuesday and Wednesday.
