Congratulations Amy!!

Congratulations to Amy Ruch-Smith on being named the City of Wadsworth’s September Employee of the Month!

Amy is the Administrative Assistant at Soprema Senior Center, where she serves as a welcoming and dedicated first point of contact. She helps seniors connect with needed resources while making each person feel valued through her unwavering patience and compassion. Amy brings creative ideas and practical solutions to improve the Center’s operations, addressing issues before they become larger problems.

In addition, Amy ensures multiple rotating front desks run seamlessly, supporting volunteers of a wide range of ages, personalities, and abilities. Her kindness is inspirational and she handles herself with professionalism inside and outside of the Center’s walls, serving as one of the City’s most valuable public faces. Her positive attitude and commitment make a meaningful difference to both the Center, and the seniors it serves.

Please join us in congratulating Amy on this well-deserved recognition!

AGING WELL IN WADSWORTH happened today!! The Soprema Senior Center has kicked off its Fall Senior Walking Challenge (September 1 - October 31), and there is still room for YOU! If you are 55 or better, it's not too late to sign up as they are looking for 300 participants this year! At Monday's Kick Off event (think pep rally!) the SSC's Cafe and Activity Room were full of excited seniors ready to log their miles over the next two months. Gary Lake with the Wadsworth YMCA set an ambitious goal for the group: of 40,000 miles!

Special thanks to Johanna Perrino with Berkshire Hathaway for donating the walking bags, the Giving Place/Foundation for the grant providing fresh, healthy fruit for all! In addition to Gary Lake, participants heard inspiring words from Mayor Laubaugh, Medina County Health Commissioner Krista Wasowski, Megan Harvey with Main Street Wadsworth, Sue Milligan with Adventurous Souls, and State Representative Sharon Ray. Also a big shout out to Jim Dull and Rich Hohman, along with Tom Stugmyer at the camera, representing the Wadsworth Older Adults Foundation - this event would not be possible without the WOAF!

Interested in joining the fun? Stop by the Soprema Senior Center this week for everything you need to get started!
