The 2026 Little Miss Green and White Pageant contestants of the National Association of University Women were honored as special guests at the beautiful home of Frank and Marlene Richardson on Sunday, March 29. Mrs. Richardson, a dedicated NAUW member, graciously hosted the annual tea party.

Dressed in their finest dresses and elegant hats, the contestants and NAUW members enjoyed an afternoon filled with charm and learning. Mrs. Richardson, along with Sarah Dean, Southeast Sectional Director, provided instruction on proper tea etiquette, including how to gracefully enjoy tea, sandwiches, and fruit.

The contestants were also delighted by special readings presented by Mrs. Richardson and Patricia Bennett, adding a meaningful and inspiring touch to the gathering.

On February 21, several organizations, including NAUW (Wadesboro Branch), shared scholarship information with students at HOLLA Center. With application deadlines quickly approaching, high school seniors are encouraged to apply and take advantage of these opportunities.

Scholarships provide financial funding to help students further their education, yet millions of dollars go unclaimed each year. Several local scholarships are available for high school seniors in our area. High school seniors should check with their guidance counselors for scholarship applications and information.

Thank you to the Zetas of Monroe for the invitation to participate in the Scholarship Fair and for supporting our students’ future success. 🎓

ACDVC’s overall mission is to provide a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment for victims and survivors of domestic violence.

Members of the Wadesboro Branch of NAUW proudly participated in the Read Across America campaign at Morven Elementary School on March 2, 2026. March 2–6 is celebrated as Dr. Seuss Week. It was truly a pleasure to read to students in honor of Dr. Seuss Week and National School Social Work Week.

As Dr. Seuss once said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” 📚

Encouraging a love for reading helps open doors to imagination, knowledge, and endless possibilities for our students. We were honored to share in this special time with the young learners at Morven Elementary!

February is American Heart Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease—the leading cause of death in the United States. As members of the National Association of University Women (NAUW), we proudly wore red to help raise awareness about heart health.

NAUW encourages everyone to take proactive steps toward a healthier heart: get active, eat heart-healthy foods, monitor and manage blood pressure, quit smoking, and control cholesterol levels. Small lifestyle changes can make a big difference in preventing heart disease and promoting overall wellness.
