Hi Everyone!
I wanted to sneak in and provide an update of our progress. The Lord has worked so much over the last week to provide vision and direction.
Casey has spent a considerable amount of time reaching out to resources in the Twin Cities for the homeless, battered, and addicted.
We are focusing on finding Christian nonprofit partners who offer long-term rehabilitation for people in crisis.
What we have found, is that all of the comprehensive, long term programs tend to also have long waiting lists. This means that women who are trying to escape unhealthy or dangerous relationships are often turned away or left in their terrible circumstances until they can get into a program. In enters Lydia’s Porch.
Our focus now is on establishing relationships with these nonprofits that have more demand than space. We want to be able to provide transportation to Lydia‘s porch and allow these women and their children to stay with us until they can get into the program that will best help them recover and heal.
We are finding in our conversations that the need is absolutely massive.
We are grateful that the Lord has provided us with direction and a clear vision.
A few other exciting things... we have landed an editorial in a magazine that will be published in May. What a gift! They will be helping us promote our upcoming purple bag campaign to garnish more support.
Ways to pray for us right now?
-Please pray that our 501(c)3 application is approved without delay
-We are praying for a “House Mom”. This is somebody who is looking for a free place to live, and can help take care of the house and also the people who indwell in it. This person will have a huge heart to serve and will love the Lord and His people fiercely. We know this is a tall order but we believe the Lord will provide.
-We are praying for donors and pledges. That the Lord would grip the hearts of those in our community and that they would be compelled to give and serve
-Please pray that Casey and I would continue to take the next step in the midst of the busy holiday season!
-We are seeking some volunteers (see previous post). Please pray that this need would be filled
-Lastly, and above all, pray for Gods will over all of this. That He would be honored and glorified in everything that is done.
Blessings!
Samantha & Casey
