With afterschool programming back in full swing, so are our volunteers, and we are so thankful to have you back.

Whether it’s serving dinner, helping with homework, or just connecting with our youth, you are such an important part of our team. We couldn’t run this show without you!

AC Hotel’s culinary crew has done it again! They have prepared a delicious menu for our fundraiser on October 3rd.

A few things we have on the menu are:

Time for a youth success story!

Christy is one of our newest youth whom we have served, and already we can see so much improvement. She has grown up with an unstable home life and recently has been cut off from her family and is now living with a close friend.

After seeing an advertisement for The Cove, she came to us asking for help. As a result of not having stable people in her family to look up to and learn from, she had no idea how to do most of the skills needed to be an adult. So we started there.

Over the last few weeks, we have helped Christy learn how to navigate Social Security, got her enrolled in online school, and helped her get vital documents such as her Social Security card and birth certificate. While she still has a lot of work to do, we are so proud of the progress she has been making in navigating adulthood!

Happy Monday! We’re looking forward to another week of fun after-school programming. Here's a small glimpse into what each day will look like.

Tonight we have some friends from Baylor coming to lead a light workout. We love starting off the week with some movement to help our young people regulate their bodies after a long day.

On Tuesday, we will have a special guest from our friends at Chase House (an emergency housing service) to lead us in a group activity.

Last, but certainly not least, on Wednesday, we have one of our favorite days of the month! We will be celebrating our youth who have August birthdays. There will be sweet treats, games, and a good meal, along with birthday presents for those we are celebrating.

Hello Cove family, we have a big favor to ask.

One of our youth is desperately in need of a refrigerator. Their family is currently storing food in a cooler, and with temperatures regularly getting above 100 degrees, that just isn't going to keep their food fresh.

If you know of anyone who can donate a fridge to The Cove to give to this youth, please call Shelbey Herring (Cove Program Director) at +1 (254) 709-1093.
