👨🏻‍🏫 Earlybirds Toastmasters mentor & mentee meeting for lunch at Kitok Restaurant in Waco, TX!

Mentorship is a wonderful resource that Toastmasters offers. A newer member gets to learns the ins and outs from a more experienced member. 💡

Randy is coming with 43 years experience in Toastmasters, while Daniel hit his first full year in April. We're very thankful for our wonderful and willing mentors to guide the newer members in their journeys to becoming better public speakers.

Join us tomorrow from 7-8 AM... 👀 The theme is Daily Routines, with the word of the day being "Sequence." Every meeting is sequenced. Hope to see you there!

🌅🐦 Toastmasters Roles part two

Our toastmasters and new president introduced two more roles to help us with the meeting:

⏳Our timer tracks the duration of certain speeches… most prepared speeches are 4-6 minutes, Tabletopics 1-2 minutes, evaluations 2-3 minutes. The timer will wave green, yellows, and red signs depending on if they’ve gone long enough, they’re about to run out of time, or they’ve gone over. There is a 30 second grace period.

🗳️ The ballot counter… well… does that! A segment with multiple speakers has a voting process for those who qualified. It is the ballot counter’s responsibility to count the votes accurately, and declare winners at the end

These roles alternate week by week… maybe you can attend a meeting and take on a role? 👀 come check us out on Wednesday mornings!

🌅Waco Early Birds Toastmaster MEETING ROLES (Part One)

Our new President and Toastmaster that day, Alli, introduced very important roles to keep our meetings flowing:

✅ Our Ah-counter listens throughout the meeting for common verbal pauses/filler words, such as um, ah, so, etc. At the end of the meeting, the Ah-counter will report who used which filler words, and how much.

✅ Our Grammarian will be listening to good or incorrect usages of the english language. The Grammarian also introduced the word of the day, which is Jocular. Attendees are encouraged to use the word of the day in their speeches, and the Grammarian shouted out those who did.

👀 Keep an eye out for Part 2, where our Toastmaster introduced the Timer and Ballot Counter!

Last Wednesday, June 17th, we had a very nice meeting! The theme was "planning ahead" with a word of the day "forecasting." As you can see, we had several speakers of all ages and experience levels!

Waco Friends! Our Toastmasters Early Bird Club meets every Wednesday from 7:00–8:00 AM. Our President starts the meeting promptly at 7:00 AM... so if you arrive at 7:02, you are late! 😀 In all seriousness, we'd love to have you come through the doors!

📝 Here is what we have on the agenda for tomorrow:

💡 Our Toastmaster, Gary Lee, will guide us through the theme "Planning Ahead." Toastmasters is a great program for practicing this skill!

💡 Inspired by the theme, our Grammarian, Chris, has selected the Word of the Day: "Forecasting," a method of predicting a future event or condition.

💡One of our newer members, Alli, will be presenting her speech, "A Fresh Start," as part of the Introduction to Vocal Variety and Body Language project. Toastmasters can be a fresh start for many, why not you! 🫵

💡 Landon will lead Table Topics, our impromptu speaking segment, where a few unsuspecting members will be called upon to share their thoughts. Given the impromptu nature, we can't prepare you for what's to come... maybe you will be called on! 👀

💡Our President, Daniel, will serve as General Evaluator, leading a session that includes the prepared speech evaluation, the Ah-Counter report (counting the bountiful ums and ahs), the Grammarian report (who used "forecasting" in their speech), and an overall meeting assessment. It is a fantastic way for us to learn and improve as speakers.
