- Olivet Discourse
In chapter 23 of Matthew's gospel, Yahweh Yeshua Messiah, The Lord Jesus Christ, harshly rebuked and judged the Scribes and Pharisees calling them, Hypocrites!, Fools and Blind Guides!, Serpents, Brood of Vipers! 8 times He yells, Woe to you! (Woe means; to suffer grief, regret, or distress.)
Jesus asked, How can you escape the condemnation of hell?
And He judged them saying, All the righteous blood ever shed on the earth will be charged upon you!
(This would soon include His own blood)
Jesus said, See! Your house is left to you desolate!
▪︎Truly, I say to you, all these things will come upon This Generation!
Chpt 24 As Jesus is departing the Temple, His disciples point out the magnificence of the Temple. Jesus said to them the most shocking prophesy in Israel's history.
“Do you see all these things?” He replied. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”
Jesus departs to the east and sat on the Mount of Olives. There, His disciples asked, when will these things happen?
This began what's known as the "Olivet Discourse"
Jesus gives signs and prophetic warnings to His disciples saying, Don't be deceived, many will claim to be the Christ, you will hear of wars and rumors of wars, there will be famine, pestilence, and earthquakes. Watch for Daniel's abomination of desolation, The great tribulation and more.
When you see all these things, know that it is near - at the door!
▪︎Assuredly, I say to you This Generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.
Remember, This Generation, Jesus called a wicked and adulterous generation, and the men of Nineveh will rise up in judgment and condemned This Generation, the Queen of the South will rise up in judgment against This Generation and condemn it!
This is the generation that rejected the Messiah, they said, "we have no King, but Cesar" and they shouted, "crucify Him, crucify Him!" The Generation that said, His blood be on us and on our children."
Jesus said, These are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Peter said, All of the prophets foretold of these days.
John the Baptist said to the Scribes and Pharisees, Brood of Vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? And even now, the axe is laid to the root of the trees. (not will be ) And, His winnowing fan is in His hand. (not is to come) Is now!
Remember, Jesus said, The only sign This Generation will see is the sign of Jonah, for as Jonah was 3 days and nights in the belly of a great fish so the Son of Man will be 3 days and nights in the belly of the earth. * That Generation saw this sign!
*That Generation saw the death and resurrection of the Son of Man, also they saw the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple, leaving not one stone upon another, just a Jesus prophesied.
*New International Version - Truly I tell you, This Generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
[Not some generation in the far distant future]
*King James Bible - Verily I say unto you, This Generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
[The Generation who crucified our Lord, persecuted His followers & witnessed all these things, which were fulfilled by AD 70]
