Nurses here at CTX have to put their annual leave request in a year in advance. Nurses plan their vacation around the yearly calendar, only for the VA to cancel their leave in one service. All the cuts DOGE was allowed to do did nothing but create staffing shortages. But guess who got to take their leave....the Nurse Managers.

The VA has decided to reopen our collective bargaining agreement shortly after the First Circuit upheld Judge DuBose’s preliminary injunction, restoring our collective bargaining agreement. We have endured hostile negotiations before. The VA has negotiated in bad faith before. In the past, your union has filed over bad faith bargaining and won. We are prepared to take every step necessary to protect your rights as a VA employee.

Let a coworker know that negotiations have begun and your union is ready to fight for your rights. Together, we will make a strong contract, strong union, and strong VA.

Politicians are attempting to tag on more than 60 separate bills to the Major Richard Star Act. This massive legislative package is known as The “Take Care of America’s Veterans Act” (H.R. 9237, S. 4744). While the bill package proposes to improve veterans’ health care and benefits, it would in fact do the opposite.

Pass a clean Major Richard Star Act.

Yesss!!! Great news!

At 6:30pm today, VACO-LMR provided a memoranda to the National VA Council concerning the Department’s implementation of the preliminary injunction restoring our Master Agreement. It appears that VACO is finally providing guidance and instructing facilities to take immediate steps to comply with the court’s orders.

VA Central Office is instructing facilities to return to the status quo for all AFGE-represented employees. This includes EVERYONE covered by the Master Agreement before the August 6, 2025 Termination.

Thank you to everyone who has joined our fight to protect the Master Agreement. For those of you ready to join the fight for the future of the VA, visit join.afge.org today!

STAY STRONG and STAY TOGETHER!

GRANTED: NVAC’s Motion to Enforce Preliminary Injunction was granted this morning in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island.

Today’s hearing confirmed that despite the VA’s unlawful actions, collective bargaining must be reinstated. The VA must comply.

During the hearing for our motion to enforce the preliminary injunction, Judge DuBose gave the VA until Tuesday to explain how its actions could be interpreted as anything other than contempt of court. Their refusal to implement the Court's order and their illegal re-termination of the contract are blatant disrespect not only for the Court's order but also for the law.

The National VA Council extends our deepest gratitude to all our members and leaders who provided evidence of the VA’s non-compliance. Those who have stayed with and joined our union are the reason we continue to win victories like today.
