sometimes they really know how to screw things up.
today, joined his cousin Vannās team in Tyler for a one day tourney.
they won. hands down. beast mode.
in the championship game, the opposing team just couldnāt understand how they were getting beat like drums. the big corn field post who towered over everyone just couldnāt keep it together. he lost his mind. slamming the walls. growling. drooling. he had the best WWE face!
i mean cmon brother!
last few seconds, we have the ball, pass to gus, he passes back and big baby proceeds to tackle Gus with the best O line hit youāve ever seen from a 6th grader.
problem is, this is basketball. and the hit, which i think he was trying to screen, was uncalled for.
game over. we win.
iāll save you the profanity soaked smack talk that ensued. by them.

i, being the calm and quiet large man that i am, simply walked across the court to ensure the safety of my son. meanwhile big babyās mom is cursing the refs and then it happenedā¦i engaged.
kindly i said, maāam, we have it on filmā¦your son unnecessarily trucked my kid. letās move on, game over.

and then, with the kind energy of the 8 i am, i simply encouraged her to exit the gym immediately.
guys, we were on the threshold of a full on parent brawl.
over what? 6th grade summer basketball.
thatās what itās come to.
iām happy to say, we have thoroughly debriefed the experience with significant laughter and tall tale details.
but man, parents, calm down. do some yoga. hit a v**e. do something so you donāt embarrass yourself over 6th grade basketball.
