Welcome to the SUNDAY DEBRIEF for August 30, 2026! 15 more beds went out the door which means 15 more kids are off the floor! We're grateful to the teams out and about serving the children awaiting a brand new, good night's sleep!

By the calendar, this means that's a wrap on August. At SHP WACO we're celebrating the summer of 2026 and our turning 4, with four full years now of serving our community! If the math is "mathing" correctly, we've delivered a total of 116 BEDS throughout Waco in June, July August -- in addition to hosting 3 BED BUILDS too. To our volunteers across all the details, a very hearty thank you.

We're so close to marking our 2000th bed delivered since our chapter began. In fact, at the September 12th BUNKS ACROSS AMERICA BED BUILD, the very pieces of this 2000th bed will be built and prepared for. ♥ Imagine your hands and your heart involved in THAT! BAA is just a very special BUILD DAY -- where collectively across the nation we'll all be building on hopes and dreams.... along with the deeper truth of what a bed really means. 17 great reasons to JUMP FOR JOY as we share the SUNDAY DEBRIEF this week!

4 delivery teams were out on mission, serving 6 families and a total of 17 kids. Another weekend of such happiness as we all engage with the moms and dads and children, learning about their families. We count it privilege to stand in the gap with all of our parents, and build the friendships we'll carry with us always. Can't help but reflect on how the impact goes both ways!

This week, one set of girls was in for a surprise! They'd been sleeping on the floor and had no idea what we were preparing for them as they waited in the room next door. A birthday girl and her sisters just overjoyed at the sight of their brand new beds, in what now looks to be a whole brand new room! Ages 5, 6 and 7. Cue the confetti right?! There's nothing better than moments like this! 🥳

A second team returned from delivery and had this to share: "An absolutely fantastic delivery for our team. 6 girls. Very grateful, engaging and precious mom. And the littlest one, Aurora, she was the sweetest thing." Can't tell you how often it's like this, and just how happy it leaves us. Thank you families for trusting us with your need.

Another great week in a great summer of service. Thank you to all our steadfast volunteers who have seen us through every build day we've hosted, and every delivery we've made. It's only together that we can.

Welcome to the SUNDAY DEBRIEF for August 16, 2026! It's time friends, it's BACK to SCHOOL!

15 more kids are off the floor and what a gift that is as children head back to classrooms and routines.

We'd all say, there's nothing like a delivery. And this week the love and friendships formed, in the time it takes to assemble and make a bed, have our hearts in overflow. From discussing favorite colors, to receiving pictures that kids have colored and prepared for the delivery team, to opening bedding and finding it's exactly what they love-- we just know we're in this for such right reason. One young man in his excitement was cheering along the assembly with joyful shouts of "Yay, GO!" And isn't that so right son... yay and go! Even a nest of birds kept careful watch as we went up and down the stairs to load in -- all the love that comes together by way of a new bed.

At SHP WACO we're so honored. To be part of something as special as "No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town." Families and children, we'll see to it. Back to school season is here, and for many families, it's a stretch to cover backpacks, new shoes, and school supplies. But there's one thing every child deserves that doesn't come with a price tag: a good night's sleep.

A safe, comfortable bed is more than a place to rest 🛌 💤 it helps kids focus better in class, retain what they learn, strengthen their immune systems, and show up ready to learn and grow.

Right now, kids across our communities are sleeping on the floor. This school year, help us change that.

Alone we can do so little,
together we can do so much.....

Like 54 more BEDS BUILT!

Yesterday felt like such a HOMERUN! We expected to complete 30 beds and instead we powered through 54 -- and what a feeling of great accomplishment that is. Approximately 80 folks came out to help and it was as seamless and efficient as it's ever been. THANK YOU everyone for your help at our August Community Bed Build; our volunteers ROCK!

For those attending for your first time, we trust you enjoyed the experience! There's nothing quite like the understanding of what we're all about -- building real wood, twin size beds for children right here in our cities... who are otherwise without. Our mission is that "No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town" and we say it often -- can't stop, won't stop until the mission is complete! People meeting new people and coming together for our great cause, sure makes the heart of a community feel so strong.

Special shout outs to Texell Serves, Young Mens Service League (YMSL) and National Charity League (NCL). We're excited to have y'all with us over and over again - making your important difference in the ongoing efforts to end child bedlessness. Your time is of great value to us and we simply want to extend our extra thanks for your continual impact.

As well, our gratitude to our Meadowbrook! Our facility as Brad mentioned in his opening, is given to us out of the overflowing generosity and kindness of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. We build and deliver from here rent and expense free and couldn’t possibly be where we are today, in service and deed without it. Thank you without end and thank you for your people - so many of whom are right along with us always, serving at SHP.

The sounds of school bells seem to be ringing again! How on earth already?!? What that means is this! To the educators of our community, to all faculty and staff, to the children we serve and those whom serve with us, SHP WACO wishes you a wonderful '26-'27 school year. We're cheering for you! 🏫✏️🎒🛏📚📓🙏 Please don't ever forget how important is your SLEEP!
