Sleep In Heavenly Peace - TX, Waco

Welcome to the SUNDAY DEBRIEF for October 18, 2026!

To conclude a great week of building so many beds, we added in 16 DELIVERED! Six different stops made sure 16 KIDS now have brand new BEDS to call their own!

Special thanks this morning to Baylor University's PHI KAPPA CHI FRATERNITY brothers: Cooper, Sam, Harrison, Matthew and Colin. These gentlemen showed up to participate in and learn the ropes of what delivery experiences are all about. As one team exclaimed, "We LOVED having the young energy with us this week, these guys were awesome!" So we stop a moment this morning to truly give THANKS!

So often in today's world, the next generation is getting bombarded with less than ideal character descriptives - - about who and what they "are" when that's simply just not the truth! Nobody ever should doubt the future generation without truly being in their presence, getting to know and learn about them and from them, and having a hands on experience of their drive and commitment to make a difference! We see it time and time again, through the organizations that partner and serve with us, through our community of youth and young adults. The real truth about them sounds like this -- and they each are standing firm in it. "I'd love to help, I'd love to serve." And we're grateful.

SHP WACO respects and appreciates you, cares about you and will always have a place for you to be on mission with us. "No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town!"

Have a great week everyone --

Today was a big day, celebrating service with Stylecraft Homes!

For the 4th year running, Sleep In Heavenly Peace Waco has been the recipient of Stylecraft's day of care and community service. Stylecraft sponsored a 32 bed build and approximately 75 of their employees joined us once again on mission -- that NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN! When the morning was done and lunch was served, 36 beds were complete; all hearts in overdrive!

They came, they sawed, they sanded! They prepared slats and cleats and side rails galore. They assembled headboards and footboards and quality control checked, and checked some more before staining and branding without end! After putting all our equipment away with us and for us, and stacking all the furniture pieces in right rooms, they grabbed our brooms and helped to sweep the floors! ♥ If it sounds familiar that's because it is -- every time we build. Strength is quite strong when it comes to community!

Stylecraft is a company built on SERVICE and making sure their clients are CARED FOR. That resonates so deep with us at Sleep In Heavenly Peace. Please know how we thank you.

We count it both honor and privilege to be chosen to receive from you, as we've been blessed to. In a community as wonderful as ours, with so many nonprofit organizations doing their very best to serve our neighbors, we understand each year how hard it must be to make this very important decision - - to where will you go and serve.

Your resources generously directed toward the children and families we serve, means that together we are having impact on the chance to end child bedlessness. May you know that changing lives one bed at a time, hope built with love, is joy so palpable and impact everlasting. Your handprints of love and service having gone into every detail of each bed's important piece.

Special thanks to Kara Bayer -- Team and Culture Coordinator, Jayme Stanley Human Resources and Jessi Kelly Chief Operating Officer for your leading and guiding of your employees in the way of service. We are touched by the compassionate and kind, driven and determined professionals that are STYLECRAFT employees. This is in fact why you are one of Texas Monthly's Best Companies to Work For in Texas - - now 7 years running. Thank you for blessing us today with your people, their time and your generous spirit to help.

To us, Stylecraft is the very meaning of HOME. 🏡

In gratitude and in service,
SHP WACO

CELEBRATING 60!

60 BEDS BUILT! Y'all! 🥳 Welcome to the SUNDAY DEBRIEF for October 11, 2026!

This is so exciting that we keep finding out what we're capable of! Yesterday marks our 10th build this year with our incredible Waco community. We had 80 volunteers rally in perfect weather and a quick morning of doing all sorts of good!

First and foremost, is our gratefulness to Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Our build was sponsored by Meadowbrook, which is just completely above and beyond. After all they've already done and continuously do for Waco's SHP, sincerely we shout -- thank you Lord!

As VP Brad Hinrichs mentioned in our morning huddle from the stairs, Meadowbrook Baptist Church and Executive Pastor David Cozart have done so much to contribute and support the ongoing efforts of the SHP mission. Two years ago our space at the church became our home, rent free, because Meadowbrook believed in that mission so wholeheartedly. We have electricity, we have storage that we so desperately need. We have bathrooms. We have a room dedicated to bedding alone. We can store all our equipment which can be cumbersome, and we can safely organize every single of our tools. Indoor space, outdoor space you name it, it is there. Simply on offer because they care about the children of our city in need. What it allows us is peace, and an ability to keep our focus -- strictly on serving the families and kids. Pastor David, we give you our thanks. We simply cannot do what we do without you.

Yesterday net us so many returning veteran volunteers and a whole long list of many new faces too! We're grateful for everyone, the time you put forth, the kindness we watch and hear and participate in as we truly work together! At the end of that work is a very full heart and we hope you left feeling it too. We trust you each had a great experience and feel a sweet peace that you've done something for the betterment of the children we serve. As Build Manager Brent explained in his opening words, it is something special to be witness to the now thousands of stories we encounter when we take what we've built and set it up for the kids. Partnering like you do with SHP WACO is something we hope you always will remember. ♥

A special shout out to the following groups with us this week. Certainly Meadowbrook attendees, Holt Cat Waco, Latinx Association of Science & Health (LASH at Baylor), Midway High School FFA, Young Mens Service League and National Charity League. A huge round of applause for everyone's great help!

YOU DID IT, and we THANK YOU!

Have an awesome week -- keep your eye out for the blessings!

Together, we sing!

"The sun'll come out tomorrow....."

Another sweet story of community, this time between us and Waco Civic Theatre that we'd love for you to get to know.

THANK YOU to Waco Civic Theatre and the delightful regards shared on your page last evening of us working together. Not only in reference of the custom bunks we made for the opening act in the upcoming production of "Annie", but the sincere support of our work to serve the children of our city with beds. "Our work becoming part of their story on stage," and what a sincere privilege that is!

"These custom bunk beds help us create the world of Annie while reminding us of the real impact a safe and comfortable bed can have in a child's life." We couldn't agree more friends; this is community!

Grab your tickets now to enjoy Annie on stage this November at https://bit.ly/AnnieatWCT.

At Waco Civic Theatre, we love when the stories we tell on stage connect with the work happening right here in our community. ❤️

A very special thank you to Sleep in Heavenly Peace for building custom bunk beds for the opening scene of Annie!

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a nonprofit dedicated to making sure no child sleeps on the floor, providing safe, comfortable beds to children and families in need. Their mission to give children a safe place to sleep makes their involvement with Annie especially meaningful, as our story begins inside an orphanage where a group of children share a bunk room.

Thanks to their incredible craftsmanship, their work will now become part of our story on stage. These custom bunk beds help us create the world of Annie while reminding us of the real impact a safe and comfortable bed can have in a child’s life.

We are so grateful to Sleep in Heavenly Peace for supporting our production and for the important work they do in our community.

See their beautiful work come to life on stage when Annie opens this November at Waco Civic Theatre. Get your tickets today!

That 2000th bed we built two weeks ago?

We're HAPPY to share it's now been DELIVERED! Congratulations to our new friend Rufus, who received bed #2,000. His sisters are equally ecstatic as were all 16 recipients we had the pleasure of serving this week! One sweet little girl can now trade the couch cushions she'd been using on the floor as a makeshift bed - -for a real one. She was most thrilled for her pillow and that alone causes one very giant smile! But if you ever wonder what a difference a bed makes, just look at the photo of all the little girls on their new bunk and all around. Feels like "life made".

We're taking a moment with this Sunday debrief to be still . . . and stand in the truth of what's been accomplished herein, for our community BY our community.

2,000 BEDS DELIVERED.

To every person or organization who has shared your time, your skills and your resources with us to make literally everything that we do happen, we say it again, our sincere thanks. Words are not enough to convey how much it has meant to link arms with all of you. We are a COMMUNITY who CARES!

A little over 4 years worth of abundant love, through hard work and service, one to another - - neighbor to neighbor. We thank you WACO, we thank you for joining us on mission whereas "No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town."

Let's keep going! There are a couple hundred kids waiting for their turn.....

See you October 10th, when we'll BUILD again!

Mark your calendars for October 10th! 🛏⚒🗜🧰🔨🛏

Sharing our official announcement of our next BEDDING DRIVE & COMMUNITY BED BUILD for October 2026! We hope you'll save the date and make plans to join us!

This one is EXTRA SPECIAL as it is hosted and sponsored by MEADOWBROOK BAPTIST CHURCH -- where SHP WACO has the privilege to call "HOME". Meadowbrook and Executive Pastor David Cozart graciously extended and gifted us their unused youth space back in January of 2024, changing everything about our day to day operation and the peaceful rest of dedicated space. Truly a gift that keeps on giving.

Our gratitude is without end.♥

Meadowbrook has asked that this BED BUILD remain open to everyone, welcoming one and all to be your important part of COMMUNITY and SERVICE!

Link to register is here: https://x.gldn.io/e/tcUAOhX7c6

📣 Reminders: Each person attending needs to register individually, regardless of age. For those under 18, a parent waiver is required and is a simple extra step in our online system to complete before youth are able to participate. We thank you for your understanding....

WACO, we'll see you then!

Welcome to the SUNDAY DEBRIEF for September 20th, 2026.

This week we found ourselves celebrating service, with another 35 BEDS BUILT! It was a special week, in particular with the collective efforts planned for and arranged by LOGAN ALEXANDER and the Young Men's Service League Waco Chapter.

Yesterday turned out to be very special and we'd love to share some of the important backstory!

YMSL, Young Men's Service League is about just that: SERVICE. This year marks their 25th Anniversary and SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE was awarded their "Ultimate Gift" as recipient of their aim. To fund this Ultimate Gift, YMSL received the "9/11 Day Youth Engagement Grant" by Americorps in honor of their pledge "Unite In Service. Never Forget".

Yesterday, they did just that! "Came together to build beds for children in our community, carrying forward the spirit of unity and service that has made September 11th, the nation's largest day of service." And with even more joy we share that this "PRIVATE BUILD" for Waco's Chapter, was completely orchestrated by YMSL member Logan Alexander in the honor of his Eagle Project with Troop 308!

📣SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE! 📣

On behalf of SHP nationally and here at home, we'd like to thank everyone at YMSL. Special shout outs to both Nancy McEachern and Jamie Goble for your efforts behind the scenes here locally. And to Logan Alexander and his family -- for your commitment to service at SHP WACO. Logan your showing up, continually volunteering, learning, participating, understanding, and growing in your reach for the highest honor of Eagle Scout is to be commended; we extend our congratulations to you.

Highlights of this celebration of COMMUNITY and SERVICE:

🥳 SPECIAL GUESTS: Waco's very own, Mayor Jim Holmes was in attendance and spoke to the young men of their service. Thank you Mayor Holmes for your words of encouragement.

🥳THE EAGLE PROJECT: Logan you have much to be proud of. Your ex*****on of your very own "bed build" was outstanding. Your presentation from high atop the stairs unto all of your attendees was very well done, as was your management and overseeing of all stations. SHP WACO is happy for you as will be the children who receive today's 35 beds.

🥳 THE NUMBERS: 101 volunteers attended! Included were 23 attendees from Fellowship Bible Church of Waco who supplied the drinks and snacks for the gentlemen of YMSL! How fun is that?! Thank you Pastors Nathan Davis and Brantley Hall, and your crew for helping work so hard ..... with theirs.

🥳 THE BEDDING: 9 bed-in-bags sets arrived with the volunteers and we know the influx of shipments and deliveries surely is YMSL too! Many thanks for the timely arrival such that we can deliver your 35 beds right away!

🥳 THE PARENTS: YMSL is comprised of "mothers & sons serving together to impact their local communities". Thank you one and all for leading your young men in this important way they should go. We are thankful for you and your sons and the commitment to show up and serve with us at SHP WACO. Together, we can!

THANK YOU one and ALL!
