With great gratitude and a hearty round of applause, ladies and gentleman this is our BIG thank you to our BIG Alex, at SHP WACO.
As y’all know, Chris and Cindy Taylor founded the Waco Chapter of SHP in June of 2022. Chris had always had something special tugging at his heart and that was children perhaps sleeping in less than ideal conditions — who may just need a bed. When the nudging got so big to just get busy and do something about it, Chris invited friends from church and some dear and willing neighbors. One of which is this very important guy right here.
Eventually where titles would land, co-presidents of SHP WACO they’d be. Great minds think alike as the saying goes and together they were off and running and so for all of us - - well our chapter was then too! To say it takes a village is an understatement, that we know all too well. But with these guys, man oh man it was just so good! We’re thankful to have been under their leadership since the get go, and all for the betterment of the families we serve.
At the end of 2025 it was time for Chris - and now it’s Alex’s turn as well. To step aside from SHP WACO after 4 solid years — truly of giving everything they had to our chapter and our mission. Constant in their selfless serving, it’s been all of their time, all of the time. The vast amount of knowledge and expertise they’ve imparted us with, is a plethora of their great giftedness, knowledge and wisdom, their experiences in business and with people - truly everything under the sun. We cannot say it enough, our THANKS. Simply put, their next chapters call them back home, to their own families who need them and deserve them more.
Today, we’re on our feet for Alex, after starting the year thanking Chris!
Since the beginning......
First in the driveway. Then at the barn. Then to the church. Always behind the scenes doing his part of the grind. His mind works at record speed. His planning is to the nth degree of every detail. He organizes his organization, so that nothing slips through a crack. He’s fearless in his leading, because a man with a vision cannot be contained! Just look at last year’s bed delivery numbers for our 3rd Annual OSP — 83 BEDS on Christmas Eve! He’s constant in the throws of what comes next, focusing all of us on working smarter and not harder. He leads and delegates and encourages with determination because he believes in our mission that much. That together we really are, we’re going to see to it! “No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town.” The learning with Alex never ends; his mind, his arms and well, his laptop -- forever open!!
His young family has always been in tow, and easily became part of ours. His wife Emily involved way back when. His children showing up always at his side; if Dad worked a build they were at a station working too. Can’t help but think what a beautiful thought that is, getting to grow up like this. In the understanding of service and how it all works, when we do. Thank you Alex and to Emily - for your time over here with all of us. To do the work and do it well, collectively for the children of our city.
We think it was Star Trek that coined the phrase “to boldly go where no man has ever gone before.” Of course, in order to advance a mission. And that’s what Alex has done and been part of here! He’s a man that covers a lot of ground, with purpose, on purpose. And we’re glad. Glad to have had him with us on mission for as long as we have.
And since this is social media, we guess your clicks will be part of our giant round of applause! Friends won’t you join us in our gratitude, for his time and talent with us and for us, at Waco’s SHP. 👏
Alex, THANK YOU. ❤🛏❤
