We've officially wrapped up our Hoops for Hope trips for the summer!

From new faces to new places, we’ve had the incredible opportunity to connect with kids, invest in coaches, and use basketball to build relationships and make a lasting impact.

✨ 10 trips
🏀 693 kids reached
🙌 66 coaches who served, including 20 first-time coaches/trip participants
🌍 2 first-time sites
🇬🇭 5 coaches local to Ghana who helped run camp
🇰🇪 1 coach from Kenya who served with our team

But the numbers only tell part of the story.

The BIG picture is bigger than basketball. We are disciples making disciples who make disciples – investing in coaches, kids, churches, and communities so the impact continues long after we leave. 🏀🌎

KENYA — The last two days of camp have been an incredible experience for our Kenya team!

The joy and excitement these campers bring each day is absolutely contagious, and it’s been amazing to watch them grow in confidence, develop their basketball skills, and build genuine friendships with the coaches and one another!

We’re looking forward to all the basketball fun, meaningful conversations, and lasting impact that our final day will bring!

GHANA — Our Ghana team hit the ground running!

Camp officially tipped off on Tuesday, July 28th, with 51 campers in the morning session and 50 campers in the afternoon session!

Over the last few days, campers have brought incredible effort, enthusiasm, and healthy competition as they learned and grew together on the court!

We’re so thankful for our amazing Ghanaian coaches, who continue to lead with excellence. Even more encouraging, three of our current coaches are former campers who have grown through the program and are now investing in the next generation!

KENYA — After almost 40 hours of travel, our team arrived safely in Kenya!

Sunday our team was able to attend church alongside the local congregation and enjoyed some sweet moments with the kids!

After the service, they headed out to the two sites to set up for camp, including blowing up basketballs and hanging basketball nets, and get everything ready for the week.

Monday was the first day of camp, and it went great with about hundred campers in attendance!

SLOVAKIA — This morning's camp was filled with energy, highlighted by a spirited game of Money Basket and a fun round of Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes, followed by meaningful conversations during Huddle Time.

The afternoon camp brought rain to the outdoor courts, but the coaches made the most of every break in the weather with games and contests, while keeping the fun going during the rain!

This group's joy has been contagious – they celebrate every game, every award, and every teammate with incredible enthusiasm. Their excitement during the awards ceremony was unforgettable!

MOLDOVA — The team had an amazing final day of camp! Sunshine and cool temperatures made for a beautiful start as the younger camp wrapped up with lots of fun, and meaningful conversations.

The awards ceremony was full of smiles, high fives, and excitement. One especially memorable moment was recognizing a young boy with special needs, whose joyful spirit had impacted everyone all week. Camp ended with campers lining up to have their T-shirts and certificates signed, making for some bittersweet goodbyes!

After lunch, the team returned for the older camp, where the energy stayed high and the growth of the campers was evident. Beginners had gained confidence, and experienced players were challenged to improve.

Our host Eugene will continue following up with all of the campers, and it's exciting to see the foundation of a growing basketball ministry in Moldova!
