This is a wonderful video that was recorded for our "virtual" rally yesterday but alas, Zoom did not cooperate and make it available from "the cloud" in time. Nonetheless, this lady is worth hearing. Kim BetterHave Jesus

This is a wonderful video about how to overcome your fears made for women. The speaker is excellent and engaging.

Black Women are 3x's more likely to die from...

A majority of pregnancy-related deaths in Texas are preventable and black women, in particular, are two to three times more likely to die during the course of pregnancy, childbirth, or 42 days postpartum. These disparities persist regardless of her age, socioeconomic status, income, and education.
Here's how we save lives
There are data-driven approaches to preventing maternal mortality. Here are a few I will fight for in the Texas House:
Medicaid Expansion and extending Medicaid coverage for a year postpartum, including mental healthcare coverage
Increasing access to prenatal, reproductive healthcare, and doula services
Adding Planned Parenthood to the Healthy Texas Women Program to expand access for millions of women.

Every trafficking situation is unique. Fear, isolation, guilt, shame, misplaced loyalty and expert manipulation are among the many factors that may keep a person from seeking help or identifying as a victim.

A common question people ask, is “Why don’t you just leave?“

Victims of human trafficking stay for many reasons. Some lack the basic necessities to physically get out, such as transportation or a safe place to live. Some are afraid for their safety. Also, victims have been so effectively manipulated, they do not identify as being a victim of s*x trafficking.

WHAT ARE COMMON VULNERABILITIES IN S*X TRAFFICKING?

In s*x trafficking, common vulnerabilities include homelessness, history of abuse, involvement in the commercial s*x industry, substance abuse, and more.

For child s*x trafficking, other common vulnerabilities include low self-esteem, family struggles, running away, involvement in child welfare and more.

Although these are common themes, anyone can be a victim.

THE ANSWER IS C!

Human trafficking, both through labor and s*x trafficking, is happening right here in the Waco community. Our community is at a special risk because of our location in what’s called the “Texas Triangle.” Major interstates cross through Texas, connecting DFW, Houston, and San Antonio to the rest of the country. The Texas Triangle is considered one of the most heavily trafficked regions in the United States, and Waco is right in the middle.

“In 1867, Mary Harris lost her husband and 4 small children to yellow fever. In 1871, the Chicago fire took her home and business. She went on to organize mine workers and their wives to fight for fair wages and led the charge to outlaw child labor. Who is Mother Jones ”
