Wabasso Area Food Emergency Reserve-WAFER

WAFER (food shelf in Wabasso) is in need of volunteers. Due to snowbirds, health issues and work conflicts, we are short on volunteers. WAFER's hours are every Thursday mornings 9:30-11:30.

Working at WAFER entails being on our 3 month schedule working with 2 other people 1 to 3 times in these 3 months. You would be packing groceries into boxes that clients have pre-chosen when they arrive. The food is then weighed and clients then take to their vehicle.

Students from Wabasso Public School grades K-12 raised and donated 880 pounds of food for our local food shelf!

A few things Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I have to take food I don’t want?
You do not have to take what you don’want.
We are a Client choice food shelf. Which means you select what you would like and do not have to take anything you don’t.

2. Do I need an appointment?
No, we are Walk-In. Just stop by on Thursday 9:30-11:30.

3. What information do we need to know?
Your name... how many people are in your household, and then ages of the people in your household.

4. How often can I come?
Once a month.

4. Do you deliver?
No, we currently are unable to deliver to clients.

That's right, we will waive $10 in library fines for each food item you bring in so that we can donate it to Wabasso Area Food Emergency Reserve-WAFER. During this time, we are thankful for everything WAFER does, so please join in our effort to support those in need!
