We encourage you to take a few moments to complete your donation form and give to these organizations. Most importantly, 100% of your donation goes directly to the organizations you choose.

🎓 Celebrating Our Scholarship Recipients!

We’re proud to share a few photos from this year’s scholarship presentations. Each of these outstanding students received a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of their hard work and dedication.

Five of the scholarships were awarded through the partnership between the Red Cross and the Foundation, and one scholarship was provided directly by the Foundation.

Join us in congratulating these amazing students on their achievements!

⭐ Wabasha County D.A.C ⭐

The donations to Wabasha Kellogg Local Giving Campaign for the Wabasha DAC provide support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with a focus on community involvement. This population often does not have much money or is unable to access their own money. This can prevent them from attending community activities that have fees like music lessons, exercise classes, outdoor education experiences, and anything else with an admission fee. We started a fund to subsidize these costs, allowing anyone to attend any activity that is meaningful to them, regardless of their financial situation. Our Local Giving donations will help sustain this fund and allow our individuals to live their best lives. So please give generously when you receive your WKACF Local Giving Form in the mail at the end of the month.

⭐ Emplify Health by Gundersen ⭐

Funds raised this year through the Wabasha Kellogg Area Community Foundation’s Local Giving campaign will help support the new Lifestyle Medicine and Pharmacy expansion at EMPLIFY HEALTH BY GUNDERSEN. This important investment will help bring more services, more support, and more opportunities closer to home.

Keeping healthcare in our community means more than convenience — it means comfort, connection, and confidence for patients and families. It means being able to turn to trusted caregivers nearby, without the stress of long travel or leaving the community we call home. Local healthcare strengthens the heart of our region by helping neighbors care for one another and ensuring that quality care remains accessible for generations to come.
The Lifestyle Medicine and Pharmacy expansion will create a lasting positive impact by supporting healthier lives, better access to care, and a stronger future for our community. With the support of local donors, we can continue building a place where compassionate, high-quality healthcare is available right here in Wabasha. So, be generous when you receive your WKACF Local Giving form in the mail at the end of the month.

⭐ Great River Homes ⭐

The mission of Great River Homes, Inc. is to support people with disabilities in Wabasha County by providing person-centered services.

Thanks to last year’s donations through the Wabasha Kellogg Area Community Foundation Local Giving Campaign, we were able to offer meaningful, inclusive experiences that may otherwise have been financially out of reach. These opportunities included hosting a Spring Formal at the Front Porch in Kellogg, attending performances at WideSpot, participating in water aerobics and receiving private swimming lessons at the Wabasha Pool, engaging in a variety of community activities under the bridge, and purchasing plants for raised garden beds.

This support empowered individuals to pursue personal goals such as improving community involvement, enhancing personal health, learning valuable life skills like swimming, planning, shopping for, and preparing meals to share with friends.

We are deeply grateful for these generous contributions, which have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of individuals living, growing, and thriving in Wabasha. Please be generous when receiving your Wabasha Kellogg Area Community Foundation’s Local Giving Form in May.

⭐ Reads Landing Schoolhouse Museum ⭐

“Embracing the Past for the Future!” That is our motto at the Reads Landing Schoolhouse Museum. This Local History Museum is where children learn that the early classroom I-Pad was an 8 x12 inch slate board and a piece of chalk.

In our fast-changing virtual world, seeing with your own eyes and touching with your own hands has never been so crucial to understanding our history. This year has been especially challenging for Minnesota’s oldest remaining brick schoolhouse. Our geothermal HVAC system needed extensive and costly updating, while cleaning and operating expenses keep growing.

Our volunteers have spent over 1500 hours this year, working as docents at the Museum, processing emails, doing research, assisting with genealogy, providing educational programs, giving tours, answering phone calls 7days/week, and partaking in outreach events.

We are deeply grateful for your Wabasha Kellogg Area Community Foundation’s Local Giving contributions. Donations and memberships sustain our mission to preserve our local community history and keep the doors of the Museum open!

Please be generous when you receive your Local Giving form.

⭐ Meals on Wheels ⭐

Harold is happy to finally be home after battling a serious illness and recovering for 2 years in a rehab facility. While he has worked hard to make this transition, living independently comes with challenges including the ability to reliably prepare meals for himself. With family living far away, Harold benefits greatly from Meals on Wheels. Each delivery provides not just a healthy meal but also a knock on the door from a familiar and friendly face.

In 2026 the Meals on Wheels program is experiencing its own challenges. At a time when the need for our services is growing, we are facing a reduction in funding. This change may result in older adults in Wabasha being placed on a waitlist for meals. Now more than ever, donations are critical to ensure people like Harold continue receiving the support they depend on. Please be generous to help us serve individuals like Herold when you receive your Local Giving Form.

⭐🔥 Local Giving Highlight! 🔥⭐

We’re kicking off our WKACF Local Giving spotlight series! Over the next two weeks, we’ll be featuring the amazing organizations YOU can support—groups making a real difference right here in Wabasha‑Kellogg.

First up: ⭐ Elder Network ⭐

Elder Network created Connection Café as a welcoming and supportive space for older adults experiencing memory concerns who were seeking meaningful social connection. Since its beginning, the program has grown to include all older adults—and community members—who are looking for companionship, engagement, and a sense of belonging.

Each 90 minute Connection Café gathering offers enriching and enjoyable experiences designed to foster connection and well being. Activities include guest speakers, music therapy, forest bathing, crafts, bingo, trivia, and a variety of seasonal and creative activities. These gatherings provide not only fun, but also friendship, purpose, and community.

Participants eagerly look forward to each Connection Café, where laughter, learning, and connection are shared. Your generous Local Giving Donations make these gatherings possible and help sustain Connection Café along with the many other vital programs provided by Elder Network—strengthening our community and enriching the lives of older adults.
