🎉🍦Community Celebrates 10th Annual Ice Cream Social🎉🍦

On Wednesday, August 19th, the Wabasha Kellogg Area Community Foundation (WKACF) hosted its 10th annual Ice Cream Social, bringing neighbors together for an evening of fun, gratitude, and community spirit. Thanks to generous Local Giving Campaign support, the Foundation awarded nearly $30,000 to area service organizations and has distributed more than $250,000 since its beginning.

Festivities included 200 hot dogs, plenty of ice cream treats, face painting, prizes, and the crowd-favorite ice cream eating contest, which once again brought smiles and friendly competition to the celebration.

The Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to Wabasha Fresh Market for providing ice cream treats and discounting the hot dogs, Hills Hardware for furnishing bottled water, Dairy Queen for providing Blizzard prizes, the WK Volleyball Team for face painting, and Wabasha and Kellogg Royalty for handing out treats and organizing the contest. Appreciation also goes to the city and its staff for their continued help, and most of all to the community, whose generosity helps keep Wabasha and Kellogg a wonderful place to live, work, and play.

🎾 ANONYMOUS DONOR PROVIDES PICKLEBALL WINDBREAK FACILITATED THROUGH WKACF 🎾

The Wabasha Kellogg Area Community Foundation (WKACF) recently received a generous $2,000 donation to support the Wabasha Athletic Complex pickleball courts.

This gift funded the installation of vertical windscreen slats along the pickleball fence, making a valuable improvement that has already made a noticeable difference for players. By minimizing wind interference, the slats improve ball control, reduce distractions, and provide a consistent background that makes it easier to track the ball. Local players have shared that the slats have eliminated much of the variability caused by the wind, allowing matches to be decided by skill rather than luck.

🚧🦺 WABASHA KELLOGG AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SUPPORTS WABASHA ROTARY’S 75TH ANNIVERSARY PROJECT! 🦺🚧

As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, the Wabasha Rotary Club is supporting a pedestrian and bicyclist safety improvement project near Highway 30/Hiawatha Drive East and Big River Resort, along with the addition of a Music Park at Beach Park.

The crossing project is aimed at improving safety in a heavily traveled area used by cars, pedestrians, students, residents, and workers. A Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon Signal, or RRFB, is planned for the crossing to improve visibility and encourage drivers to yield.

“This project is about making a real difference in a place where safety matters every day,” said Brian Fries, Wabasha Rotary Board Member. “It’s a practical improvement that will benefit the whole community.”

The Music Park at Beach Park will add a family-friendly space where children, families, visitors, and residents can come together, explore music, and enjoy time outdoors. The project is part of the club’s 75th anniversary celebration and reflects Rotary’s commitment to service and community impact.

The Wabasha Rotary Club is asking for community support through a matching funds challenge of up to $12,000 through August 7, made possible by club members and the Wabasha-Kellogg Area Community Foundation.

⭐These community members represent the 10 local service organizations participating in this year’s Local Giving campaign.⭐

The Wabasha-Kellogg Area Community Foundation’s Local Giving Campaign is now underway. Donation forms have recently been mailed, and every contribution helps support friends and neighbors in our community who are facing difficult circumstances. If you have not yet received a form, you can pick one up at a local bank or call 651-564-1133 for more information. We encourage you to take a few moments to complete your donation form and give to these organizations. Most importantly, 100% of your donation goes directly to the organizations you choose.

Now in its 9th year, the Local Giving Campaign continues to make a meaningful difference in Wabasha-Kellogg. Your generosity helps strengthen the programs and services that make our community a better place to live, work, and play.

We’re proud to share a few photos from this year’s scholarship presentations. Each of these outstanding students received a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of their hard work and dedication.

Five of the scholarships were awarded through the partnership between the Red Cross and the Foundation, and one scholarship was provided directly by the Foundation.

Join us in congratulating these amazing students on their achievements!

⭐🔥 Local Giving Highlight! 🔥⭐

⭐ Wabasha County D.A.C ⭐

The donations to Wabasha Kellogg Local Giving Campaign for the Wabasha DAC provide support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with a focus on community involvement. This population often does not have much money or is unable to access their own money. This can prevent them from attending community activities that have fees like music lessons, exercise classes, outdoor education experiences, and anything else with an admission fee. We started a fund to subsidize these costs, allowing anyone to attend any activity that is meaningful to them, regardless of their financial situation. Our Local Giving donations will help sustain this fund and allow our individuals to live their best lives. So please give generously when you receive your WKACF Local Giving Form in the mail at the end of the month.
