Did you know basketball was invented at the Y?

In December 1891, James Naismith had two weeks to create an indoor winter game for future Y leaders at a YMCA training school in Springfield, Massachusetts. He hung peach baskets above the gym floor, and basketball was born. Take a look at the basket in this historic photo!

The game started at the Y, but Hoosiers made it a community tradition. We know the feeling: neighbors in the stands, local players on the court, and everyone cheering for a good game!

Our Adult Basketball League begins TOMORROW, Wednesday, October 14. Come watch and bring a little Hoosier Hysteria to our gym!

Did you grow up playing basketball at the Y?
