Today the Burton family came to present the Kaemon Burton Sportsman Scholarship to one female and one male bowler apart of the Mid Central Conference bowling division. This award started in 2022 following the passing on bowler, Kaemon Burton (18) from stage 4 lung cancer. Kaemon was a senior in high school who has a lot of passion for the sport. Kaemon was one to make a friend wherever he went and impacted many.
This award began to help two seniors remember his spirit and passion for the sport. Today we announce that Rashad Holmes and Emily Reneau are the 2024 recipients of the Kaemon Burton Sportsman Scholarship. Coaches from the Mid Central conference voted with the criteria of sportsmanship displayed during the 2023-2024 season. Each recipient received a plaque, a cup (made by Kaemon’s mom Anna), and will also receive scholarship funds. Congratulations to you both on an outstanding season.
We are very honored to present this award to you two this year. We are also very thankful to Crest Lanes and Dewayne Allen, Josh Poor, and Clint Sluss for allowing us to be here today and for the extra details you all put in today! We would also like to thank everyone who purchased a ducky keychain or earrings. We would also like to thank Coach Brian Adams for setting up a Venmo for collecting the money. In total we raised $621 to go back into Kaemon’s scholarship fund. We are also very thankful to the Mid Central Conference Community for helping us keep Kaemon’s spirit alive in the best ways possible. Without all of you we wouldn’t be able to make this possible.
