Building a Better Community by expanding Education & Serving Seniors, Feeding Hungry, repairing houses & Celebrating History.

Vredenburgh was founded as a lumber mill town by Peter Vredenburgh of Illinois in 1912. The saw mill supplied lumber to cities across the nation during its heyday. It was the only mill in the state that processed tongue-and-groove boards. The mill changed hands through the years and closed after a fire in the 1960s. Since then the economy has suffered.

BABC Summer Enrichment Camp enjoyed multiple days of fun-filled and educational field trips this summer. They enjoyed a day in Mobile, Al exploring the Clotilda Exhibit to a day of Bowling and ending with a visit to the Legacy Sites in Montgomery, Al. Thank you to everyone who made these field trips possible for our campers.

Build a Better Community Summer Enrichment Camp visited "The Clotilda: The Exhibition" at Africatown Heritage House on Thursday, July 09, 2026. This was the first day of Africatown's weekend-long celebration that took place in Mobile, Alabama and we were very excited to be a part of this grand celebration.
