Soroptimist International of Vista and North County Inland SI-Vista and North County Inland is part of an international women's service organization whose mission is to improve the lives of women and girls.

Our Club has been in continuous existence since we were first chartered in March of 1953. Soroptimist International is a worldwide volunteer service organization for business and professional women, working to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world. Almost 95,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to

community-based and international projects that benefit women and girls. SI Vista was chartered on March 23, 1953 and has approximately 40 active members. We are part of the Desert Coast Region, Soroptimist International of the Americas. Our Club's signature program is the Live Your Dream Award. Each year we award a money grant to women who have overcome enormous obstacles, is the sole provider for her family, and who is seeking to further her education. We also raise money for a variety of local non-profits and we take a leading role in fighting Human Trafficking. Each year we hold a "Dream It Be It" events for teen girls to help them plan for success in the future.

Today we celebrated the 12 recipients of this year's Soroptimist Live Your Dream award. Each woman received a check and a Live Your Dream certificate (and goodie bags, and corsages), but also frameable certificates from three of our local dignitaries representing the City of Vista, the State Senate and the State Assembly! Thanks are due to Office of the Mayor, John Franklin and Assemblywoman Laurie Davies for taking time out of their busy schedules to be guest speakers, and to State Senator Catherine Blakespear for sending Certificates of Recognition. The women appreciate the acknowledgement and validation of their accomplishments as much as they welcome the Award money! Their children got to see their moms as rock stars, which they are! Thanks also to the college counselors who help these women navigate their educational paths. Good job!

Today our club donated much-needed infant car seats and booster seats and other supplies to One Safe Place: San Diego County Family Justice Centers in San Marcos, which accepts donations via their Palomar Health partner. These car seats are desperately needed when families with young children are escaping domestic violence situations and arrive at the Center with literally nothing but the clothes on their back. These supplies were donated by Soroptimist clubs in our area. If YOU can donate new or gently used car seats, contact us or email directly Palomar Health Foundation Contact: Christi Knight at [email protected]. It's an ongoing need!
