🎉Happy Birthday to Nicole Buckner, SRT's Education & Volunteer Coordinator!

Behind every field trip, every volunteer event, and every perfectly organized supply run is Nicole making sure everything runs smoothly so that staff, students and volunteers can just show up and experience something meaningful. She's the kind of person who holds it all together and never expects anything in return.

Off the clock, Nicole is a master thrifter, a dedicated crafter (ceramics, crochet, painting, you name it), a board game enthusiast, and a proud cat mom to Puck and Nova. Oh, and she's Peruvian! 🇵🇪

A reminder that For the Birds takes flight this Saturday! 🐦🌿

Join fellow bird enthusiasts at Kaweah Oaks Preserve for a free morning of guided birding, community science, and hands-on learning as part of the California Bird Atlas “Big Weekend.” Participants will learn how bird observations contribute to statewide conservation efforts before heading out on the trails to document birds in the field.

Whether brand new to birding or a longtime birder, all experience levels are welcome.

Summer volunteer season has arrived!

Beginning this June, volunteer opportunities are expanding, along with updated summer hours to help beat the heat ☀️

🌱 Stewardship Volunteer Day
June 13 | 8:00–11:00 AM
📍Kaweah Oaks Preserve

Spend the morning outdoors supporting hands-on conservation work through habitat restoration, trail care, invasive species removal, and other stewardship projects throughout the preserve.

🌱 Nursery Volunteer Days
NOW EVERY FRIDAY | 9:00–11:30 AM
📍Dry Creek Preserve

Volunteer mornings at the nursery focus on caring for native plants that support restoration projects throughout local natural spaces. Activities may include transplanting, propagation, watering, weeding, and general nursery care.

Please note that Stewardship Days begin earlier for the summer season. Be sure to make note of the updated times when planning your visit.

All experience levels welcome. Tools and guidance provided.
