Tomorrow is Make A Difference Day, and there is no better time to find your way in.

For the children CASA serves in Tulare County, the holidays can feel uncertain. Showing up looks different for everyone, and there is a place for all of it.

Swipe through to see how you can help!

Some of you have time. Some have a pantry, a business, a network, or a closet of baby gear you no longer need. Each one reaches a child who is counting on someone to show up.

👏♥️ Thank you to Citizens Business Bank for their generous donation supporting CASA of Tulare County.

Gifts like this help us recruit and train court-appointed advocates who show up for children in foster care, one steady and caring adult at a time. We are grateful to the Citizens Business Bank team for investing in kids right here in our community.

There is more than one way to stand with a child in foster care.

You can become a court-appointed advocate and get to know one child, one case, one person who stays. You can give, so training and support keep reaching new volunteers. Or you can simply share this post. The right person may be one tag away.

Not sure where you fit? Call us at (559) 625-4007 and we will talk it through. Link in comments.

Every child in foster care deserves one adult whose only job is to show up for them.

That is what a CASA volunteer does. They get to know the child, they learn the full story, and they speak up in court so decisions are made with the child’s real needs in view.

Behind every one of those volunteers is a team that recruits, trains, and supports them. Your gift helps make that possible for children right here in Tulare County.

If you have been looking for a way to step in, this is one. Link in comments.

Court can be overwhelming for a child. Lawyers, caseworkers, and judges are all making decisions about their life, and the child is often the quietest person in the room.

A CASA volunteer changes that. They spend time with the child, learn what is working and what is not, and share what they see directly with the judge. One consistent adult, focused on one child’s best interest.

If you have time to give and a willingness to listen, we would love to talk with you about getting started.

A foster child can have a lot of adults in their life: caseworkers, attorneys, a judge, a rotating cast of caregivers. Many of them are doing real, important work, and many of them also carry dozens of cases at once.

A CASA volunteer is the person who gets to focus on one child.

They spend time with that child and listen to what they say and what they don’t. They talk with the people around that child, including teachers, caregivers, and family. Then they bring what they’ve learned to the judge, so the decisions made in court are based on who the child really is.

And they stay. When a placement changes or a caseworker moves on, the CASA volunteer is often the one constant adult in the room.

You don’t need a legal or social work background. CASA of Tulare County trains and supports every volunteer, and the commitment is real but doable.

If you’ve ever wondered whether you could do this, ask us. Call (559) 625-4007 or find the volunteer application at the link in comments.

On his first day shadowing in court, Alberto Ramos walked into Judge Loza's courtroom.

On the bench was a Hispanic man, right here in Tulare County.

He felt happy. Inspired.

Then he thought about the kids in that room who share his background. If he felt this excited, what did it mean to them?

A child in foster care has many adults making decisions about their life. A CASA volunteer is the one who is there just for them.

Alberto, Joe, and Leslie talk about what that representation means to the kids we serve in Tulare County.

Assembly Bill 1824 was just signed into California law! 🎉

This new law ensures that guardianship and conservatorship proceedings involving native children adhere to federal and state standards, keeping more children within their communities and culture.
