Miss Miesha is recouping well. This poor dog was rough. 14 tumors removed, 2 teeth extracted, a spay surgery...a lifetime of neglect bundled into one perfect little storm. This "free" little stray walking the streets of Selma became a 4K dog...in one vet visit...

Being that shes estimated to be 10 years old...we probably would have just left all of the growths and lumps and bumps alone...then one of the growths decided to rupture and bleed...so then it became a "well if shes going under anesthesia anyways " train of thought..

In a logical sense, this is illogical. It doesnt make sense to spend this type of money on any dog. Let alone a rescue dog we've known for a week.

Turns out we are not always logical, or pragmatic, or smart, or whatever...

Sometimes we follow our heart.

You, our followers, allow us to make these admittedly illogical decisions, and help pitties in need.

Miesha will need a forever home soon, she would make a great companion for a low speed elderly person/couple. We would gladly consider a forever foster /fospice situations hip.

Donations always appreciated, so far we have covered about 1/3 of her $3,800 bill...

We recently took in a small female pitty that came with lumps and bumps all over. Backyard crop job, looking like shes been used as a puppy mill. She was found ny one of our rescue friends, running along the side of the road in Selma...this poor thing has had a rough go at life so far, but you would never know it in her demeanor.

She loves being picked up and cuddled, and loves laying on her back to scratch her back on the grass. Just a sweet old soul. Normally with dogs in this situation, we dont rush into surgery, if the growths aren't bothering them, and anesthesia can be problematic on an older dog...BUT, little miss Miesha (We named her after Miesha Tate the UFC fighter, because shes a fighter...and well, lets face it, shes a Tater) decided to scratch one of her tumors/growths open, so she was going to need surgery regardless...

Since we are putting her under anesthesia, we figured we may as well get her spayed, get as many lumps and bumps removed as possible (we aren't worried about cosmetics, she's beautiful as is...but the one on her back leg somewhat limits her mobility, the one near her eye could eventually affect her eye, and the ones on her belly are likely to keep getting scratched open...so we are talking quality of life). In addition she needs to have two rotten teeth removed, and needs an ear clean.

This little lady has seemingly been bred, ignored, neglected, and just dumped upon her whole life, and well...we couldn't say no.

So here we are, hat in hand once again, asking you to help us help dogs like Miesha.

Any dollar amount greatly helps, but if you feel inclined to join us in a little game, go to your google search bar, and type in "give me a number between 1 and 35" then look at the last picture in the post and donate the corresponding amount.

Alternatively, donate whatever you're comfortable with, and regardless of monetary donations, please give her post a share.

As always, thank you for your support.

*If you treat dogs like this, I hope you step on a Lego.

Hard to get a decent picture due to angles etc. But all of our outdoor kennels now have their own power supply with 4 outlets. We use these to run fans, headlamps, lights etc. As the seasons progress, and its been a ridiculous mess of extension chords and chaos.

Donations have been at an all time low. And we get it, times are uncertain, things are rough.

For those of you who are considering a donation, keep us in mind.

In our case "a few hundred bucks" goes a long ways.

Big shout out to our fellow dog lover Brett Eagle for getting this dialed in on this one.

We havent done the recliners in a while...they can be problematic in terms of cleaning, getting torn up, etc...but we have a couple of specific dogs who would really benefit from a softer place to crash...looking for 3 or 4 gently used recliners.

Lots of serious posts recently...how about something a little more lighthearted. We are thinking of printing these out as decals for your car. First 5 people to 👋 get one free (provided its not a pain in the neck to get it to them). Previous adopters get 1 free regardless, when accompanied by a picture of you applying it to your vehicle.

🐾 Specialty Surgeries Now Available at Valley Oak SPCA 🐾

We are excited to offer select specialty surgical procedures through a visiting veterinarian. These are not services typically offered during our regular spay/neuter clinics, but this program allows us to help pet owners who may not otherwise be able to afford these procedures.

Our visiting veterinarian will be performing these surgeries about once per month.

📅 Next Surgery Date: April 21- Must have an appointment!

Some procedures may require a prior surgical consultation to evaluate your pet and provide an accurate estimate.

⚠️ Please note: Tail amputations are only performed for injury or medical necessity, not for cosmetic purposes.

Important: If your pet is not already spayed or neutered, we will require that procedure be done at the same time while your pet is under anesthesia.

If you are interested or want more information, send us a text or email and mention this post, and our team will follow up with you.

Sometimes rescue is as simple as making a connection. Welcome "Beans" to the Party! 3 month old shepherd puppy going to a new home thanks to a few text messages. As we have said many times before...rescue is many things...

Maybe we are weird.. in a sense...but our dogs are our dogs...start to finish...

Recently. "FRANK" (Sinatra, for the tuxedo...), had been really struggling, having seizures, trouble walking, etc

Our dear friend/board member who has been providing Frank with love and care for the last 4 years , reached out recently and mentioned the seizures were getting worse, and overall quality of life was rapidly decreasing...

After recent episodes, we decided today was the day and Frank (The Tank...as he became lovingly known)...went on his last vet visit...

We could have stretched out his goodbye, but ultimately we owed it to him, to let him go with mercy and dignity.

When he truly couldn't walk to my truck...its like he was verifying the decision.

The humane thing was to let him go...

Point being.

From the day he entered our care, to the day we had to say goodbye....

Thats our dog.

And we will be there.

RIP Frankie, Frankerton, Frank the tank, Sinatra.
