FALL BALL OPENINGS
We have a couple of roster spots that have opened up in our 8U Division.
If you have been thinking about signing your athlete up, now is the time. Please reach out as soon as possible. These spots will be filled first come, first served, and once they are gone, they are gone.
10U • 12U • 14U WAITING LIST
Our 10U, 12U and 14U divisions currently have small waiting lists. If you are interested in getting your athlete into one of these divisions, reach out and we will add you to the waiting list. Moving forward, any openings that become available will be filled from that list.
COACHES NEEDED — 8U & 10U
We are still looking for ONE 8U coach and ONE 10U coach for the upcoming fall season.
This is more than just putting a lineup together and standing in the dugout. Our coaches are the people who are on the field helping shape these athletes.
They are teaching a young player how to throw correctly, how to field a ground ball, how to swing the bat, how to run the bases and how to understand the game. But just as importantly, they are teaching confidence, discipline, teamwork, accountability, sportsmanship and how to handle both success and failure.
For many of these athletes, their coach may be one of the biggest influences they have in their early softball years.
You don’t have to know everything about softball. You don’t have to be a former college player. You just have to be willing to show up, teach, encourage and invest your time in these kids.
We can help with the rest. If you have ever thought, “Someone should step up and coach,” maybe that someone is you.
We need one 8U coach and one 10U coach to step forward so we can give these athletes the opportunity to have a team, play the game and continue developing. Do not underestimate the impact you can have on a child simply by being willing to volunteer.
WE ALSO NEED 2 MORE BOARD MEMBERS
We are still looking for TWO people who are willing to step up and become part of the VYSA board for the upcoming fall season. Being a board member isn’t about having a title. It is about taking ownership and investing in the future of our athletes.
The work we do behind the scenes directly affects what happens on the field. Board members help prepare fields, organize and run game days, support coaches, assist families, oversee league operations, handle issues as they arise and make decisions that determine the direction of the league.
It isn’t glamorous.
It takes time.
It takes commitment.
It takes teamwork.
And sometimes it means giving up part of your Sunday or Monday to make sure everything is ready when the athletes arrive.
But here’s the important part:
The kids notice the difference.
Every field that is prepared.
Every game that runs smoothly.
Every coach who has the support they need.
Every problem that gets handled.
Every opportunity we are able to provide.
That is the result of volunteers who decided to step up.
We cannot continue to grow this league and provide more opportunities for our athletes without people willing to help make it happen.
If you care about youth softball, if you want to see our league improve, or if you simply want to give back to the kids in our community, we need you.
You don’t have to know everything about running a league. You don’t have to have previous board experience. You just have to be willing to contribute, work as a team and put the athletes first.
Our athletes only get these opportunities because adults are willing to step up.
So what are we asking:
Who is willing to step up?
If you are interested in coaching 8U or 10U or becoming one of our two new board members, please send us a message. We will provide you with the information you need and explain what is involved.
Together let’s continue building a league that our athletes are proud to be a part of.
For the kids. For the game. For the future of VYSA.
