Everyday rescue is hard but some days it is extra hard 😔 This beautiful girl was found wandering and in very poor condition. Friends brought her inside and we offered to cover her vet care. This beautiful girl was skin and bones, severely dehydrated, covered in fleas with severe congestion from upper respiratory/calici virus. Weighing in at only four pounds and not eating at all. If this was not enough she tested positive for feline leukemia. The difficult decision was made to let her go. She passed in the arms of her finder, he shed tears, her ashes will be treasured like her life should have been. I don’t doubt at some point she was a pet, maybe lost but my guess she was abandoned and endured a tough life in the short 6 months she was alive 😔

LET’S TALK ABOUT GIVING AWAY “FREE” KITTENS.
When you’re giving away your free kittens and someone comments that they want one — and they want to come right now to get it — PLEASE take a minute to look at their profile.
You can often learn a lot about someone by simply looking at their page. Not everyone who says they want an animal has good intentions. Once you hand that kitten over, you have absolutely no control over what happens to it.
And honestly, I am so tired of hearing, “I just need to get rid of these kittens.”
How about trying something different?
HOW ABOUT FIXING YOUR CAT?
Spay her. Neuter him. Prevent the litters instead of constantly trying to find homes for kittens after they’re born.
There are already so many unwanted cats and kittens desperately needing safe, loving homes. Every litter adds more animals to an already overwhelming problem.
And please don't tell yourself, “They're free, so surely someone will take them.” A free kitten is not automatically going to a safe home.
These are living, breathing little lives. They aren't things to simply “get rid of.”
Please be responsible. Please spay and neuter your pets. And if you truly cannot keep the kittens that were born, take the time to make sure they are going to safe, responsible homes.
Because once that kitten leaves your hands, you may never know what happened to it.
