My name is Max Bowman and I am a LGSW providing telehealth psychotherapy services. I grew up in Bemidji, MN and thus was bitten by "the outdoors bug" early on. I enjoy fishing, hunting, camping, bird watching, and just getting out there. I can also be a bit of a homebody and appreciate activities like sewing and other handicrafts, as well as reading manga, and baking. The Northwoods has been and always will be my home. Currently, I live in Duluth and prioritize serving my community in various ways.

I have worked with adults, adolescents, elders and children. I am comfortable working with anyone, but especially people who have experienced trauma, are in crisis, are struggling with substance use, are LGBTQ+, are Indigenous, have Autism, have ADHD, or have Borderline Personality Disorder, to name a few specialties. While we are each unique communities, I have found that I am uniquely attuned to the needs and goals of other Indigenous people I serve because I am Indigenous myself and I get to practice my culture.

My clients' goals usually include an increased feeling of security/safety, community integration, & relationship or interpersonal effectiveness. People deserve to feel heard, validated, and encouraged.

I provide client-centered and solution-focused approaches; utilizing Harm Reduction, DBT skills, or CBT where appropriate. I specialize in serving ages 14+ and I offer telehealth services for Minnesota residents.

I remember this day well!

On this day in 2013, Minnesota became the twelfth US state to legalise same-sex marriage.

Governor Mark Dayton signed the bill into law on 14 May, with marriages permitted to begin on 1 August that year.

Thousands gathered outside the state capitol in St Paul to celebrate as the bill passed.

Two years later, the Supreme Court's landmark Obergefell v Hodges ruling made same-sex marriage legal across all fifty states.
