Boxers and Buddies, part of the Boxer Rescue Fund, is a non-profit dog rescue located in Northern Nevada and serving Nevada and Northern California.Boxer Rescue is a nonprofit organization founded in 2005. Boxers and Buddies provides a safe, humane sanctuary for abandoned Boxers and other breeds who are waiting to be adopted. Our entire organization is run by a dedicated team of volunteers. Our g

roup works for the love of the breed and to see dogs find homes. Our available dogs come from local shelters, from the streets or from owners who turn them in. We are always filled to capacity with scared, confused and very stressed out dogs. They are with us because B&B is their last hope of finding a new life. We are their temporary haven until they are adopted into a loving permanent home. Before they can be adopted, each dog is evaluated for temperament, must be sterilized, microchipped and their shots are updated. B&B has a training program for those dogs who need rehabilitation or have behaviors which need to be modified. B&B stands apart from other rescues by rescuing any Boxer, regardless of age or health. We feel that they are all worthy of a real chance at life. This policy means that we are subject to frequent and expensive veterinarian costs. Medical expenses are only one of the major cost B&B has to pay each year. The cost are endless: food, mortgage, utilities, insurance, shelter fee, and the costs go on and on. Saving lives is not cheap but someone has to do it! It takes over $250,000 each year to keep B&B open. We are constantly seeking funds and support. We need your help. We depend on our donors and our volunteers to keep B&B open to any Boxer in need. We appreciate your compassion by including a rescue Boxer into your life. 🐾 From Shelter to Safety... and Now to Forever Homes 🐾

When Sigrid and her three tiny puppies arrived at a California shelter, the puppies were only about 2–3 weeks old.

Cold, scared, and far too young to be growing up in a shelter, this little family desperately needed a lifeline. We may never know how they ended up there, but we knew one thing for certain: they needed out.

A foster home opened its doors, and everything changed.

Over the past several weeks, Sigrid has lovingly raised her babies while they grew stronger, bigger, and more confident every day. Their foster family has watched them transform from fragile little puppies into playful, brave, and happy youngsters.

Now the time has come.

Lumpi, Poldi, and Sepp are nearly 8 weeks old and ready to find families of their own. At around 3 pounds each, they're small in size but big in personality.

And sweet Sigrid? At just 11 pounds, she's finished raising her babies and is ready for a home where she can finally be the one getting all the attention.

This family has come so far since those early shelter days. Now all they need are families to help them write their next chapter.

🐾 Valkyrie Is Looking for Her Person 🐾

At only 10 months old, Valkyrie has already lived in at least four different homes.
Most puppies spend their first year learning where they belong. Valkyrie spent hers learning that people come and go.

When Boxers & Buddies learned she was being advertised on social media for a small rehoming fee, we stepped in. Despite all the instability she's experienced, Valkyrie remains a bright, loving, and incredibly resilient young dog.

Valkyrie is also still a puppy. She's energetic, enthusiastic, and sometimes gets a little overwhelmed by the world around her. When she becomes overstimulated, she can overreact to her environment. What she needs is someone who can provide calm leadership, consistency, and help her learn that she doesn't need to handle every situation herself.

Valkyrie can be a strong personality and isn't looking for a dog she can push around. If there is another dog in the home, it should be confident, socially appropriate, and able to clearly communicate boundaries. She does best with dogs that can calmly tell her "no means no" and help her navigate social situations appropriately.

More than anything, Valkyrie needs someone committed to helping her feel safe.
Someone who understands that trust is built through consistency.
Someone who won't give up when things aren't perfect.
Someone who will show her that this home is different from all the others.

Valkyrie has so much potential and so much love to give. She just needs the right person to help her become the dog we know she can be.

This handsome blue-eyed boy is 4 years old, weighs about 70 pounds, and has quickly become a favorite in his foster home. His foster describes him as an absolute dream.

Mateo is well-behaved, knows sit and shake, comes when called, walks nicely on leash, and gets along well with other dogs. He's a calm, easygoing guy who enjoys being with his people and is happiest when he's included in daily life.

While Mateo can experience a little separation anxiety, he's making great progress and thrives with companionship, routine, and reassurance.

Whether you're looking for a walking buddy, a work-from-home assistant, or a loyal friend to keep you company, Mateo is ready to fill that role.

🐾 Meet Pie this Saturday at our Bliss Holistic Spa Event 9-1! 🐾

Pie is finally ready for her happily ever after.

This beautiful 65-pound German Shepherd/Husky mix found herself in a situation that wasn't her fault. Her previous owner never had her spayed, and she unfortunately ended up with a litter of puppies. Caring for both Pie and her puppies became overwhelming, so they were surrendered to Boxers & Buddies.

We stepped in to give this family a fresh start.

Since coming into rescue, Boxers & Buddies has had Pie spayed, microchipped, and brought up-to-date on her age-appropriate vaccinations. Her puppies have all found wonderful homes, but Pie is still waiting for her turn.

And what a dog she is. Pie is sweet, affectionate, playful, and full of personality. She gets along well with other dogs, is curious about cats, loves car rides, enjoys splashing in her pool, and would happily spend time right by your side. Her foster describes her as kind, loving, and an absolute dream girl.

Pie loves walks, loves attention, and is always ready for an adventure. She's still polishing up her manners and would benefit from continued training, but she's eager to learn and wants nothing more than to be part of a family.

One of the first things you'll notice about Pie is her stunning eyes. One eye is a different color than the other, making her as unique on the outside as she is on the inside.

🐾 Thursday Pupdate: B&B Edition 🐾

Hey, besties! Some of you might remember me as Denali, the very sick little Husky puppy who came to Boxers & Buddies back in 2021. These days, I go by Takeo, and I wanted to check in and let everyone know that I'm living my absolute best life!

After a rough start, I found my forever family and have spent the last few years collecting adventures, making memories, and traveling with my sisters. Believe it or not, we live on a bus and spend our days exploring the world together.

Life update:
🐾 I love hiking, exploring new places, and soaking up incredible views.
🐾 My sister Kaze, the crazy Border Collie, was once almost euthanized at just five months old for being labeled "aggressive." Today, she's living proof that dogs deserve a chance. She loves giving strangers hugs, being wonderfully intense, and occasionally making it her mission to annoy me.
🐾 My little sister Yoda was born in our home after a hoarding case brought fourteen Chihuahua mixes into rescue. She never left! Her favorite activities include cuddling under blankets and investigating places she's definitely not supposed to be.
🐾 Together, we're one big happy family making memories every day.

Sometimes I'm sitting on a mountain after a long hike, looking out at an incredible view with my sisters beside me, and I think about how different my life could have been. None of this would have been possible without Boxers & Buddies stepping up when I was a very sick puppy and needed help the most. They gave me a chance, helped my sister become the amazing dog she is today, and continue making room for dogs who need them.

Since February 7th. That's how long Panini has been waiting for her forever family.

The funny thing is, everyone who meets her falls a little bit in love.

Panini is the kind of dog who greets you like you've been gone for years, even if you just stepped outside. Her whole body wiggles with excitement, and her joy is impossible not to smile about.

She's thriving in foster care, rides great in the car, does well with cats and small dogs, and is making great progress with her leash skills. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people, a little patience (and maybe a few treats) is usually all it takes before she decides you're one of her favorite humans.

We know the reason many people scroll past Panini's profile.
She has seizures.

But here's what we wish people knew:
Her seizures are well managed with medication that costs less than $30 a month. They are infrequent, she enjoys a wonderful quality of life, and they don't stop her from being a happy, playful, loving dog. She'll need routine bloodwork about twice a year to monitor her medication, but otherwise she spends her days doing what dogs do best—loving her people.

Panini isn't looking for a perfect family; She's looking for a family willing to see beyond a diagnosis.

A family that will appreciate her goofy greetings, her sweet personality, and the incredible bond she forms with the people she loves.

After more than four months in rescue, we think it's time Panini finds the forever home she deserves.

🐾 96 Days. 🐾

That's how long Bosco has been waiting for his forever home.

In those 96 days, we've watched him grow, learn, and mature. The mouthy, overexcited 2 year old, 40 lb husky we first met has made incredible progress. He's become more focused, more responsive, and continues to prove what a smart, eager dog he is.

Bosco did receive an application, but ultimately it wasn't the right fit. One of Bosco's adoption requirements is continued participation in a professionally led training course with a certified positive reinforcement trainer, and the applicant was not willing to continue that commitment.

Why are we so firm about this? Because Bosco deserves every opportunity to succeed.

He's still working on his recall, especially when exciting people are nearby. He loves making friends so much that sometimes his brain forgets what his ears are supposed to be doing. Because of that, he's currently enjoying his hiking adventures on a long line while continuing to build reliability.

A structured six-week training course won't just benefit Bosco. It will help his future family understand him, communicate with him, and build a stronger bond from day one. Training isn't about fixing Bosco. It's about helping him become the very best version of himself while giving his adopter the tools to succeed alongside him.

Bosco is smart.
Bosco is social.
Bosco is adventurous.
Bosco is ready.

What he needs now is someone willing to invest in his future.
