Today, we honor the extraordinary life and legacy of Admiral Harry D. Train II, who passed away at the remarkable age of 98. 🇺🇸⚓

Admiral Train lived a life defined by service, leadership, and love of country and community. A distinguished U.S. Navy officer, he rose to serve as Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic, Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Atlantic Command, and Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet—helping shape American and NATO strategy during the Cold War.

But his service did not end when he retired from the Navy.

Admiral Train was a dedicated founding member and longtime President of the Future of Hampton Roads, giving decades of leadership toward bringing people together and building a stronger future for our region.

As a member of the Board of Directors of the Future of Hampton Roads, I am grateful for the foundation Admiral Train helped lay and the remarkable example he leaves behind.

His legacy reminds us that leadership is not simply about the positions we hold—it is about the people we serve, the institutions we strengthen, and the future we help create for those who come after us.
