We're shooting AMERICA'S FAVORITE in downtown Norfolk and I need two male stand-ins booked today. These are the stand-ins for our two leads,

WHO I NEED:
STAND-IN #1 - Male, 5'10"
STAND-IN #2 - Male, 5'8"

WHEN:

Sunday August 2 AND Monday August 3. Both days, not one.

PAY:
$270 for 8 hours, plus overtime.

WHAT A STAND-IN ACTUALLY DOES:
You stand in the actor's spot while the crew lights the scene and sets the camera. You're not on camera. No lines, no acting. Hit your mark, hold still, pay attention, stay off your phone. It's the best seat in the house if you want to learn how a real set works, and you'll spend the day next to the people running it. If you're booked as a stand-in you work only as a stand-in that day, you can't also be used as background.

First background call of AMERICA'S FAVORITE and it shoots this Sunday. Downtown Norfolk, high-end corporate office tower. Small featured group, so you'll actually be seen.

THE DETAILS:
Sunday August 2 AND Monday August 3. Both days required, not one.

PAY:
SAG-AFTRA: $231 for 8 hours (SAG Low Budget Agreement) plus overtime and allowances
Non-union: $13/hour for 8 hours, $104 for the day

WARDROBE, READ THIS PART:
Costumes wants 4 to 5 COMPLETE head-to-toe looks. Top, bottom, shoes, plus jewelry, watch and belt. They pick from what you bring, so more options means a better day for you.

YES: jewel tones, saturated pastels, neutral office colors, and layers. Blazers, cardigans, jackets. The scene plays spring or fall, so bring layers even though it's August.

NO: bright or neon colors, contrasty prints, logos or copyrighted graphics, miniskirts or short dresses, and no smart watches.
Everything clean, pressed and on hangers.

At the Virginia Production Alliance Hampton Roads District, we’re working on new opportunities to support filmmakers, actors, crew members, writers, content creators, and the businesses that make our industry stronger.

Friends,

We need your help.

The Virginia Production Alliance – Hampton Roads District is collecting information from filmmakers, producers, crew, actors, vendors, location owners, and local businesses to better understand the real impact film and media production has in our region.

This survey will help us advocate for stronger film incentives, more production support, and better resources for Coastal Virginia. When productions come here, they don’t just hire actors and crew — they support hotels, restaurants, catering, transportation, equipment rentals, locations, small businesses, and so much more.

If you have worked on a production, supported a production, hired local talent, or benefited from film and media work in any way, please take a few minutes to fill this out.

We need real numbers, real stories, and real voices so we can show our local and state leaders why film matters in Virginia.

From the Chair: I Want to Hear From You

One thing I’ve learned over the past year is that we have a lot of talent here in Hampton Roads. We have filmmakers, actors, writers, crew members, content creators, and people who genuinely want to build something in this region.

But I also know we’re not where we want to be yet.

Over the next few months, VPA Hampton Roads will be rolling out different opportunities and initiatives. We’ve started with some small steps, like working with our cities on film grant opportunities in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. We’re continuing conversations about how we can create more opportunities for our creative community.

But I want to ask you directly:

Has this been helpful?

What would you like to see from VPA?

What kind of support do you need?

Is it more funding opportunities? More networking? More productions coming here? More training and workshops? Better communication? Something else entirely?

And what are you creating right now?

I’m asking because I don’t want us making assumptions about what this community needs. I want to hear it from the people who are actually out there trying to make films, create content, and build careers.

Be honest. What are we lacking? What would make the biggest difference for you?
