We are honored to introduce you to The Cody family. The Cody’s are the 2016 Ambassador Family for the Virginia Beach Signature Chefs Auction. The family’s story is a true reminder on why the March of Dimes mission is so critical. Mrs. Cody has written a letter we would like to share….
Dear Friends,
We are beyond honored to serve as the ambassador family for the Virginia Beach March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction. We are humbled to be chosen to share our incredible story and the journey we took as our premature twins fought every day for another breath.
Our twins, Cade and Avery entered this world 12 weeks premature. At just 28 weeks they were born weighing 2 lbs. 6 oz. and 3 lbs. 2 oz. and were just over 14 inches long. The minute we laid eyes on them we knew they were in the fight of their lives. This fight lasted three long, scary, emotional months and we are forever indebted for the amazing care they received in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and the unwavering support and work of the March of Dimes. After 7 chest tubes, 10 blood transfusions and severe stomach infections, we can sit back six years later and smile as Cade and Avery thrive in school, sports and life!
In a time of so many uncertainties and day to day struggles, the March of Dimes provided not only the support we desperately needed but also the education on something that was so foreign to us. Every child deserves a healthy start at life. Due to the work of the March of Dimes this was possible for Cade and Avery. We’re blessed to be able to share our story and help raise the funds needed to give every baby a fighting chance like Cade and Avery.
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Wes and Kelly Cody
