💙 Her Work: Through LITTherapy, Danielle supports individuals and couples navigating trauma, relationships, identity, and life transitions. Her culturally responsive, identity-informed approach centers experiences often overlooked in mental health spaces. She also provides immigration psychological evaluations, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, and clinical supervision.

💙 Professional Highlight: Danielle delivered the 2025 TEDxMint Street talk, “Messy, Painful, Necessary: The Work of Collective Healing.” A national and international presenter and co-founder of Troublemakers.art, she brings conversations about healing, justice, and belonging beyond the therapy room.

💙 Beyond Counseling: A wife, mother, and proud Yaya, Danielle loves family adventures, travel, art, music, and conversations that turn into hours of connection. 💙 HRCA Membership: Samantha has been a Resident in Counseling member for 3–5 years. Samantha has served as Secretary, creating HRCA’s first clinician directory; Communications Chair; and founder and Chair of the Technology Committee. She has also volunteered and participated in networking and wellness activities.

💙 Her Work: Samantha supports children, teens, and adults through neurodivergent-affirming care, cultural adjustment support, and technology integration. At Old Dominion University, her doctoral research explores ethical AI integration, AI literacy, and virtual reality interventions.

💙 Professional Highlight: Her VR Connection Project received VCAF’s Suzee Leone Grant to support neurodivergent youth in addressing phobias and building social confidence. She also received the VCA Michele Dowdy Emerging Leader Award and Pete Warren Fellowship.

💙 Beyond Counseling: Samantha invites convention attendees to her session, “Virtual Reality-Based Interventions for Children and Adolescents With Autism Spectrum Disorder.” She also welcomes colleagues interested in learning about ethical, HIPAA-compliant AI transcription and clinical note workflows to reach out!

💙 HRCA Membership: Emily has been a Student member for less than one year. Emily has begun connecting with the chapter by attending HRCA events.

💙 Her Work: Currently a buyer at LifeNet Health, Emily is returning to counseling with approximately five years of experience supporting high school students in a Title I school. Her lived experience with a later-in-life autism and ADHD diagnosis informs her passion for neurodiversity-affirming care, advocacy, and creating spaces where people feel understood and accepted.

💙 Professional Highlight: Emily is completing her Post-Master’s Certificate in Professional Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University, with anticipated graduation in May 2027, as she works toward LPC licensure.

💙 HRCA Membership: Pierre has been a Student member of HRCA for less than one year. Pierre has participated in a recent HRCA chapter meeting and is open to getting further involved with HRCA.

💙 His Work: With 11 years of school counseling experience, Pierre serves at Great Bridge High School, supporting college and career readiness and social-emotional learning. He also sponsors the Racially Unified Community Club, promoting cultural awareness and understanding. His greatest reward is helping young people find their purpose and leave his office feeling encouraged.

💙 Professional Highlight: Pierre is completing doctoral studies in Counselor Education and Supervision at Regent University. His research focuses on school counselors’ lived experiences, multicultural issues, and social media.

💙 Her Work: Elizabeth serves through YWCA-SHR, Walden University, and Wellness for Wellness Clinical Supervision, Consultation & Counseling PLLC. Her work spans the lifespan, with particular interests in interpersonal trauma, vicarious trauma, counselor wellness, and neurodiversity-affirming care.

💙 Professional Highlight: Elizabeth is working to establish two VCA special interest divisions: the Virginia Association of Neurodiverse Counseling (VANC) and the Virginia Association of Trauma Counseling (VATC). She welcomes colleagues interested in supporting either initiative to connect!

🌟 September’s HRCA Member Spotlight: Traci Bunn Powers

Traci Bunn Powers, M.Ed., M.Div., NCC, joined HRCA within the past year. She is a Resident in Counseling at Artisan Counseling in Newport News. She provides trauma-informed, person-centered, and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy for adolescents and adults, with a focus on neurodivergence, complex trauma, religious trauma, and identity development.

A Certified Brainspotting Practitioner, Traci also brings the perspective of 22 years as an ordained clergy person to her work with people navigating spiritual harm and faith transitions. One of the most meaningful parts of counseling for her is helping people who have felt misunderstood feel seen and believed.

HRCA is proud to participate in the 2026 American Foundation for Su***de Prevention Out of the Darkness Community Walk.

This meaningful event brings our community together to raise awareness, honor and remember those affected by su***de, support survivors, and help advance su***de-prevention efforts. As counselors, we understand the importance of connection, compassionate support, and creating spaces where people know they are not alone.

Event Details:
