In 1910, sixteen Rotary Clubs in the United States united to form the "National Association of Rotary Clubs." In 1912, the name was changed to the "International Association of Rotary Clubs" to reflect the addition of new clubs outside the U.S., notably in Winnipeg, Canada, and London, England. In 1922, the organization officially shortened and simplified its name to reflect its global reach and intercontinental presence to "Rotary International."
