When the Military Tribute mural at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront was destroyed, a spark was lit in the surrounding community of Hampton Roads to have it restored to the community as a landmark and symbol of our connection with, and appreciation of the men and women of the United States Military. This communit

y will be dedicated to the production, promotion, and necessary fund-raising that will make the lost Military Tribute a reality. Join us in celebrating the completion of Sam Welty's Great America I, "Our Fallen Heroes"

If you are a first responder or military, please come in dress uniform! Speakers include: Congressman Scott Taylor, Mayor Will Sessoms, Jason Redman (author/speaker) as our Emcee and representatives from Police, Fire Departments and more. American Sign Language will be provided by Hands UP! Come early to get a parking spot in the area or park at the Pavillion (free) and enjoy a short walk to the ceremony.

A “strike team” of firefighter-paramedics and police officers from across Palm Beach County rallied Wednesday for a rescue and recovery mission in the Florida Keys, the chain of islands decimated by Hurricane Irma’s punishing winds.

Palm Beach Gardens, Boynton Beach, Boca Raton and Delray Beach sent firefighters. Boynton, Delray and Boca sent police to Naples area.

But so, too, will the support staff of the United States Antarctic base, McMurdo Station, population 1,100. McMurdo is a company town of sorts: It has its own air traffic controller, machine shop, IT help desk, dormitory housing, three bars, yoga classes, hiking trails—and fire department.

And so we have another natural disaster under our national belt. As Hurricane Irma plowed through parts of this country, first responders pushed back and closed the door on her feisty, whirlwind attitude … on behalf of millions.
Similar to what we witnessed throughout Texas and parts of Louisiana when Hurricane Harvey bullied his way in, Irma was believed to have a more muscular punch — and first responders from all over unhesitatingly swung into action.
