Every organization has a story. Ours began on May 8, 1961, when Navy League Hampton Roads was officially chartered.

For more than six decades, our organization has proudly supported the men and women of our Sea Services and strengthened the connection between our military and the Hampton Roads community.

Pictured here is our original signed charter—the document that marked the beginning of a mission that continues today.

PCU John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) has completed Acceptance Trials, a series of crew led test events conducted at sea. The trials demonstrate to the U.S. Navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey that the ship meets contract specifications and the crew is trained and ready to conduct operations at sea.
With Acceptance Trials complete, John F. Kennedy now prepares for Preliminary Acceptance as the ship continues to move toward delivery.

Many people know the Navy League by name, but not everyone realizes our mission extends far beyond the U.S. Navy.

The Navy League is dedicated to supporting and strengthening America's four Sea Services:
⚓ U.S. Navy
🦅 U.S. Marine Corps
🛟 U.S. Coast Guard
🚢 U.S.-flag Merchant Marine

In addition, we are proud to support the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. This federally chartered, Navy-sponsored youth development program helps prepare young people through leadership training, citizenship, and hands-on maritime experiences.

Through advocacy, education, and community support, we are committed to strengthening the connection between the American public and the men and women who serve our maritime nation.

Today we celebrate the 236th Birthday of the United States Coast Guard.

For more than two centuries, Coast Guardsmen have safeguarded our nation's waterways, protected our shores, and stood the watch whenever duty calls. We are grateful for their unwavering commitment, courage, and service.

Happy Birthday, U.S. Coast Guard—and thank you to all who serve. 🇺🇸

For 236 years, Semper Paratus hasn't just been a motto, it's been a promise kept on every coast, every port, and every waterway across our nation. As one of the sea services the Navy League exists to support, the Coast Guard has stood the watch through storms, rescues, and long hours most of us never see.

The Navy League salutes every Coast Guardsman, active duty, reserve, auxiliary, and civilian, who carries that promise forward. Thank you for your service.
