We Serve We also sponsor an annual music contest that awards scholarships. Other special events occur during the year.

Our Club's major community services include payment for eye examinations and glasses for the needy, hearing examinations and hearing aides, food bank donations, purchase of leader dogs and associated trainig, recruiting of eye and organ donors, and financial support for youth activities including annual scholarships to students of the local high school and adult learning center. vices include financial support of our own Lions Eye Bank, youth exchange programs, eye surgery for the needy and many other charitable activities. Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) supports world-wide relief for disasters and other needs such as prevention of blindness. Club Fund Raising

This weekend was the Lions of District Multiple District 24 State convention. Lots of "first," lots of information, lots of training, lots of friendship building and lots of effort for a joint service project happened in 3 short days. In Bristol, Virginia we elected our new Governors for the three Districts in Va., District L, C, and I.

We are especially privileged that the International President, ( as of July 1st), Lion Mark Lion was present to lead, encourage and inspire us. Lion Mark will be the International President of over 48,000 clubs in over 200 countries. He is the leader of Lions worldwide.

Incoming President Mark inducted our newest member of Thalia Lions Club, Synora Matachia. To my knowledge, there is no other Lion in the state of Virginia who has ever been inducted by an International President. It was a memorable event.

Having elected our new leadership, we came home eager to serve and eager to try out new ideas.
